Full Moon in Leo
8:27am (EST)
Total Lunar Eclipse
This morning’s Full Moon was the second full moon of 2018-two in January! Additionally, the red coloring f this beautiful moon was the result of a Total Lunar Eclipse.
According to the NY Times Science section…
…There’s a lot packed into that phrase “super blue blood moon.”
• A BLUE moon happens when there are two full moons within a single calendar month.
• A supermoon occurs when the moon orbits closer to planet Earth than usual. There was a supermoon on Jan. 1 to start off the year, too. That’s how we get a “SUPER blue moon.”
• Now comes the “blood part.” During a lunar eclipse, Earth passes between the moon and the sun, and the planet casts its shadow over its lunar satellite. It’s nothing like the spectacle of a total solar eclipse, but the red tinge the moon takes on is striking. And it gives us the “super blue BLOOD moon.”…
Everything aligned for this supermoon in Leo, especially since Leo is the most charismatic and attention seeking sign of the Zodiac. It’s planetary ruler is the Sun, so the blood red and huge presence in the morning sky are right in keeping with this companion luminary.
For me, inspiration flowed with the beauty of the eclipse and thoughts were not on the astrological energy behind what was witnessed….
Milky white and crystal
Clarity of craters etched
Into Alabaster orb.
Night sky holds
You in its grasp
Black and rich
As any fine velvet.
Moving across night sky
Readying for the great
Reveal that will bring
Silence and awe.
Red glory rises
Alabastor dipped in
Blood orange red.
Blackness deepens as
If to showcase this
Sight of changing orb.
Breathe in the beauty
Breathe in the power
Breathe in the light
Crafted from Sun and Earth.
