Waning Moon in Aquarius

Sun Transits into Astrological Cancer

Neptune Retrograde in Astrological Pisces (d. Nov. 27th)
10:36a.m. (EDT)

Tomorrow morning we welcome the Summer Solstice and the longest day before light gives way to darkness. There is a lot going on with the solar transit into Cancer and a Neptune Retrograde that will remain through November 27th. The Moon wanes in astrological Aquarius and we are already in the throes of Jupiter (Sagittarius), Saturn (Capricorn) and Pluto (Capricorn) Retrogrades taking hold in April. Everybody wants in on the party and everyone wants to be the focus of attention. So, what to do with all of this palpable energy?

To begin with, just breathe! Take a load off and if you are able and the weather accommodates, spend some quality time outside tomorrow reveling in the light. Better yet, find a natural setting-beach, woods, mountains-and drink in the power and splendor of our world unadorned and embraceable and ready for the reciprocity of healing. Feeling better now? Okay, let’s get to the magick.

We have all of the elements represented in this line-up and the ability to connect these energies to align with the alchemical and elemental nature of our being. Saturn and Pluto have been hanging out in earthy Capricorn, ensuring that every step of the way has been carefully executed just as the goat navigates t he steepest of cliffs. Saturn naturally strives towards structure and a timestamp that is of no world’s making. Pluto heralds the death of what should be relegated to the past to serve s as the inspiration of the futures endeavors. This earthiness directly impacts our physical state of being and all that we relinquish in the transformation of rendering from the past, seeking the vision of the future while solidly anchored to a present that is instantaneously becoming the past that informs our future.

Jupiter and the Sun lend their own vision of Fire. Jupiter’s fire being the expansive quality that is the lighter fluid necessary for the flames to take hold and the control and contraction needed to maintain a product burning. The Sun moves of its own accord, in this case just stepping into the mantle of Cancer’s healing and homey waters. There is a natural soothing nature that occurs with the gentle warming of emotions (Cancer is ruled by the Moon) and intuitive gnosis vs. the full blaze onset that occurs with the Sun in any of its resonate Fire signs.

And, the Neptune Retrograde in its ruling sign of Pisces. For the time of the retrograde the tides will be still and the action that plays out will occur deep in the darkest and most hidden recesses of the emotional psyche. Compassion will be submerged and transformed to deepening discernment that comes only from love that has been drained of its original need to possess and is transformed into complete surrender to simply being. These are waters that have potential to heal.

The Lady of the Moon boasts the sliver of her waning as the aquarian airy nature of the cosmos flows through her streams of silvery hair. The vision is beautiful and powerful and the sense of the bigger picture and plan for the Universe is etched in the streams of moonlight.

The Longest Day! The Deepest Healing….

I would like to suggest that you take this day as a day for celebrating you and simply be in the warmth of the longest day with no concerns about what comes next. We’ve had that play out as a common theme for several months now and everyone is frayed and worn from the efforts. Even joyous events take their toll, so honor that as well. Access the peak of solar energy and the promise it holds for renewal and replenishment to draw into every cell of your being for use in whatever comes ahead.

So, here’s the metaphor and visual. Your favorite swimming spot. Sumer Solstice’ balmy heat as the light of the day’s sun slowly begins to give way. You reach out to grab onto the rope that has been your access to the cooling and deep waters below. And, just as the last of the day’s light colors the sky crimson, you swing out, let go and fall into deep and darkened waters. The water envelopes you like a soft shell ready to receive and cushion. The sun has almost fully set and the water is very dark and you feel the rushing of so many millions of tiny beads of water around you, you relax and allow yourself to sink as deeply as needed. These waters are exactly what was needed to cool and begin the healing of your body that was exposed for too long in the peak of this Solstice’ Sun. You reach the apex of depth and the ascent begins. No effort, just surrender to the natural physics of the dive and the rise. You reach the surface, breathe in the fresh air and swim to shore. Darkness surrounds you and the sign of renewal glistening in shiny droplets on your skin under the vision of Mother Moon’s waning sliver.

Tomorrow is another day, another opportunity. The day will be shortened ever so slightly, but this favorite place of diving deeply will be accessible. Time will stand still in this sacred space of your making and the tender and burned skin from the day prior will begin its healing.

It’s Elementally Intense! Six Planetary Retrogrades and the Lion’s Light

Posted in Astrology, Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, Retrogrades, Saturn on August 9, 2018 by themagickalpen

The celestial ballet that has been calling us to take notice has been intense and beautiful in the  patterns and partnerships that have been cosmically choreographed. Each planetary dancer moving in rhythm and grace as the light is eclipsed for a time in the dreamy shadows of Moon, Sun and Earth and give way to the burgeoning of a spotlight of intensity reflecting like the multi-faceted and colored gels of lighting that sets the tone and mood for what is occurring beneath on the stage of Earth.

We have already experienced two (2) total eclipses of the Moon (Jan. 31st and July 27th) and two (2) Partial eclipses of the Sun (Feb. 15th and July 13th) with the third of the year just a few days away on August 11th. This last Total Eclipse of the Moon also boasted a trio of Earth-Moon and Pluto in opposition to the Sun. And, now the stage has been set and we await the Quintet of planetary energies that will move in slow and very exacting manner; each a character that will demand its place of connection to you, hoping to transform and deepen and all upstaged by Mercury’s 2nd Retrograde appearance.  Curtain up, lights on and we begin…

Six Planets in Retrograde…

Saturn Retrograde (April 17th) in Capricorn (Cardinal Earth)

Pluto Retrograde (April 22nd) in Capricorn (Cardinal Earth)

Neptune (June 18th) Retrograde in Pisces (Mutable Water)

Mars Retrograde (June  26th) in Aquarius (Fixed Air)

Newcomers to the party….

Mercury Retrograde (July 5-August 18/19) in Leo (Fixed Fire)

…….And, then a shot of lightning and lighting up the  Pentacle was Uranus Stationing Retrograde in Taurus (Fixed Earth) on August 7th!

The New Moon and Solar Eclipse – A Cameo Appearance of the Luminaries
Saturday, August 11.2018
New Moon in Leo 5:58a.m. (EDT)
Solar Eclipse

Saturday boasts some cameo appearances with Mother Moon waxing New and her soulmate Father Sun is eclipsed; both taking center stage in charismatic form as the Lion and Lioness command attention and devotion. By way of reminder, a solar eclipse involves the alignment of Sun-Moon and Earth, respectively in that order:

Metaphysically, this is an opportunity to draw from the strength and inner flames of your will (Sun) and move them through the waters of your intuitive and healing nature (Moon) to infuse and inform the Earth of your manifest form. This could also be used as a healing alignment where the will towards catalytic (Sun) and empowering healing (Moon) come together to fill your body with Light and Calm that renew and regenerate. The action of the Sun being eclipsed by the Moon’s shadow means that this potent solar energy is tempered and shaded a bit. I like to think of it as being more manageable in its impact; still very potent but without the full blaze of burn. And, the libretto outlines boldly what can “be”-communicating with an additional dose of Mercurian introspection in its last few days of retrograde.

The Cast of Retrogrades

The following is my perspective on the elemental energies of the planets and astrological signs, so you may find some differing opinions in regard to the traditional attributions. Coming from a mindset that all of the elements are contained in each of the primary elements and that these act as permutations of the pure essence of what that primary element’s nature is allows for a broader scope of understanding how one size does not fit all, particularly in esoteric matters. Keeping this “disclaimer” in mind let’s take a look at how these retrogrades may be accessed:

Note: In using subsets of the Elements, the first can be thought of as the garb worn by the primary (or second listed) element that gives a slightly different presentation of its base energy. For example Water of Fire means that the Pure Essence of Fire and all that is associated with that element (i.e. will, desire, action, transformation, assertion, aggression, etc…) is harmonized by the properties of Water (i.e. healing, intuition, emotion, flow, etc..). The example I often use is volcanic Lava. It is Fire that flows and moves as water, transforming the surfaces it touches in a way that only Fire can, but also moving in accord with the ebb and flow of a river.

Retrograde planets provide intensity to whatever their core energy is. This “hovering” or slowing down of the planet’s orbit creates a bit of a vacuum of outpouring that is turned within, which accounts for the dis-ease that many have when a planet retrogrades. In reality, it means an opportunity to look deeper at those parts of yourself that are now being called into accountability and make whatever changes, refinements or enhancements that are needed to move into your next stage of personal/spiritual and human development.

Earth of Earth   –    Pluto in Capricorn
Pluto is the planet of death and rebirth (of a sort). The furthest away from Earth, it’s astronomical mysteries are only beginning to be explored. Astrologically, Pluto is one of the three outer planets that reflects the higher vibration of one of three of the Elder planets. In the case of Pluto, its coarser reflection is mirrored through Mars. This means that the aggressive nature of Mars is refined and aligned with transformative action that resides in a timeless state of being. Pluto allows for the reaching back of past experience as the newly crafted future of the necessary death of what holds you trapped in the present occurs simultaneously in eternity’s loop.

For this purpose I am ascribing the regenerative nature of Earth and its foundational qualities to be the introspective call of Pluto. Additionally, Pluto is garbed in the cloak of Capricorn, and astrological sign of Cardinal Earth. Cardinal modalities are those of quickening and new beginnings and Capricorn has lots of those starts and stops as an astrological sign of slow and steady progress as the Sea-Goat attempts to navigate the heights and depths of experience. That sounds a bit like what I described of Pluto’s ability to reside both in the depths of the Past and the heights of the future, all the while maintaining a point of the present.

Assigning the qualities of Earth (Capricorn) of Earth (Pluto) to this retrograde offers ample opportunity for creating new foundations, more strongly built on the collaborative efforts of who you have been and who you wish to be as you stand more fully in your power to change in the present.

Water of Fire   –    Mars in Pisces
Mars holds the planetary energies of action and the choice of expression either as assertion or aggression. It is bold and fiery in its nature and easily changeable in where it points its focus of attention. Like the general in battle, if Mars is used justifiably, great victories can be obtained and more will benefit rather than be further oppressed. Mars retrograde requires that the energy that is cumulatively building is verified as justified and not just the letting off of hot-headed steam.

Astrologically, this cooling off is enabled by astrological Pisces; the most compassionate and tolerant of the Water signs. Its is of the Mutable (flexible) modality which aligns with the ebb and flow, contraction and expansion that is the norm of bountiful seas of emotive grace, healing and intuition. Now this watery fire can be destructive in appearance but what is rendered and finally made moveable, can also heal what has lain dormant and stagnant. In the case of this retrograde action, I would allow time for reflection on what you are holding as anger that is pent up and non-productive and learning how to channel those areas into productive and result-filled action. Allow the Fire of mars to bring to attention what you are most passionate about and then let those passions flow with grace towards the correct outlets of assertive justice, rather than aggressive destruction.

Water of Water   –    Neptune in Pisces
Neptune is ruled by astrological Pisces, so this retrograde is one that although filled with love and healing can also be the storm at sea that arises unexpectedly and drowns even the most experienced of heart’s sailors. Additionally, the planet of Fiery Action (Mars) and the King of the Sea’s mysteries (Neptune) are both being called to compassion.

Astrologically, Pisces is a sign of Water that is of the Mutable Modality. The danger with Pisces is that of being submerged too deeply in the problems and worries of others; over extending themselves and the very gifting of love and respect overly supplied becomes the heavy weight that drowns and depletes. Neptune will pull you even more deeply into the hidden worlds of your emotional and intuitive seascape and the caution is not to allow the melancholy for the plight of humanity to overwhelm and live you lifeless and ineffectual. Use the bolstering of Mar’s natural directive to act and entwined in the loving embrace of Pisces and Neptune’s ability to ride out any storm and you will find the correct balance of compassion and justice.

In this configuration Water (Neptune) of Water (Pisces) is expressed in its purest form. Compassion flows into the depths of gnosis and the healing that occurs at the level of the Soul becomes the intelligence of a heart that pierces the veils of our emotion’s surface waters much like Neptune’s trident.

Earth of Spirit   –    Saturn in Capricorn
Saturn is the planet of great structure, rigidity and the Gate Keeper of Time. Not the time we observe in linear fashion, but the timeliness of organization that creates the space for something new to be birthed. Saturn is often considered the Great Mother, albeit one who is harsh in expectation and not very tolerant of any side-stepping the larger plan. With that being said a Saturn retrograde brings the intensity of reflection that demands a deep and unwavering look at all those structures you have built and the possibility that they are simply faulty towers that will not survive the timelessness of evolutionary growth.

On this occasion, Saturn is cloaked in Capricorn’s sure-footedness that should make things go much more smoothly. But the reality is that with every step taken, Saturn’s role is to test and test again (much like that harsh Mother) to ensure that what is accomplished in the descent or ascent is worth the trouble-time and effort.

In the current configuration, Saturn shares Capricorn’s mantle with time’s master, Pluto. So, most assuredly the structure that is demanded is going to be firmly based from the catalytic (Capricorn’s Cardinal Modality) foundation of being able to reach deep into the past as well as launching forward into the future’s gain.

You may be wondering why I have given Saturn the assignation of Spirt. My rationale is that of Saturn’s position as last of the Seven Elder Planets and gateway to the outer three. Saturn propels whatever approaches with intention through its gates and into the next vibrations of communication (Uranus)-heart (Neptune) and will (Pluto).
Spirit is what we aspire towards and in many cases we move into the vibration of Spirit when we are just close enough to approach the Dweller on the Threshold. Earth (Capricorn) of Spirit (Saturn) becomes the realization of ‘as above’, so below’- our Human and manifest aspirations to cross the threshold and become one with Spirit.

Fire of Air   –    Mercury in Leo
Mercury is the dynamic planet of communication. Air that moves with the swiftness, grace and form of a dancer soaring through space seeming suspended in motion. Mercury rules all that is created through the connections and networks formed by vibration. We communicate the deepest of our fears and shout out to all our successes. We paint and compose, dance and move through life, a virtual textbook of expression make manifest through the intangible beginnings that air provides. Of note is the fact that of all of the elements, Air is the only that cannot be seen other than by the results of its touch.

Now, we have retrograde Mercury wearing the brilliant flames of astrological Fixed Fire-Leo. Strong, burning and unyielding, the onlooker must turn away or be pulled closer by an electromagnetic vibration that commands respect. This application offers the potential for communication that incites- the choice being whether the intended outcome is one of inciting to riot or inciting to truth. OF course, everyone has their own definition of what “truth” is. So the caution being that as Mercury calls us to stop, pause, think and then re-think learning how to balance just enough of Leo’s fires to stoke what lay beneath our motives and intentions in communicating, we must be aware of the slow burn that is just as productive as the blazing bonfire.

Fire (Leo) of Air (Mercury) feeds communications’ passion and ultimate action. The will to be heard. The will to speak up. The will to create an environment that is heated by the fire that honest communication stimulates is a force to be reckoned with, as communities come together and are heard.

Earth of Air  –   Uranus in Taurus
Uranus, the planet extraordinaire, that is the epitome of electrical charge-disruptive-transforming and the bringer of a Light that is innovative and visionary. Uranus is the pure energy of neurological function and as such, when it stationed retrograde our neurological impulses are all fired up and stimulated. This is also the catalytic push to evolve, grow and awaken to the greater potential of humanity’s purpose and role cosmically. When all systems are firing, nothing can prevent the ultimate connection to what lay beyond the ordinary scope of our vision and imagination. Worlds open to us and we see the reality if our place as citizen’s of the Cosmos.

This is a different sort of Air than that of Mercury, and is indeed the higher vibration of Mercury’s communicative style. Think dial-up landline and instantaneous text messaging. Even this analogy is lame in comparison to Uranian energy, hence the often bad rap as being disruptive and rebellious. In retrograde the intensity is in attempting to upgrade our wiring as humanity. And, helping to tame and tether this potent dose of electrical impulse is its astrological sign of Fixed Earth-Taurus. Only problem is that Taurus also can be obstinate in regards to the amount of change it will tolerate. If taken slowly and deliberately and holding on to those two intentions, the earthiness of Taurus can create an appropriate container to buffer and channel this electricity towards what needs “lighting up”, what needs “pushing out” and what needs to short circuit juts enough to re-amp.

Wow! What A performance!

To say “there is a lot going on astrologically and cosmically”, doesn’t even begin to define the layers of energetic outpouring we are experiencing. And, all of this information I just gave you is probably overwhelming in determining where to set your sites and turn your attention to maximize (without burning out) the potential of these events.

The reminder is that a planetary retrograde generally lasts for a bit of time (with the exception of Mercury); so you have multiple opportunities to see the patterns playing out and revisit and revise what you wish to take-away from each new viewing.
The key is remaining adaptable in what your expectations are and not attempting to access all of this energy in one act(ion). Intermissions are very useful spaces of times and cultivate the anticipation for seeing more of what has already been offered as enticement. And, remember that no matter how much you enjoyed the show, an encore is not guaranteed. just be in the moment!

Blessings of this New Moon and all that follows….

The Raging Bull: Full Moon in Scorpio

Posted in Astrology, Auspicious Days, Full Moon, Jupiter, Pluto, Retrogrades, Saturn, Scorpio on April 27, 2018 by themagickalpen

April 29.2018
Full Moon in Scorpio
8:58p.m. (EDT)

Sun in Taurus

The moon waxes full on Sunday, April 29th in the astrological sign of Scorpio. So, you may be wondering why my title for this post alludes to the bull of Taurus. This reference is made because there are a whole lot of dynamics occurring between elemental water and earth right now and many are getting stuck in the mud as you struggle to break free….

The moon is Full wearing the garb of watery Scorpio and is in opposition to a Sun that burns hotly in earthly and robust Taurus. Both are signs of a Fixed modality which means that there is staying power to whatever/wherever their energy is applied. The annual solar month of Taurus inherently offers the ability to stand strong in what you have created as your foundational and earthy realm; finances, possessions, relationships and anything that provides grounding and anchor to you thrive in Taurus’ light. The flip side is that this stalwart and very earthy energy can also encourage you to remain stuck in what has become outworn and “comfortable” but not necessarily productive. We are almost at the mid-point of this energy, which means that we may also access a more mature level of understanding as to how and what we choose to acquire as manifest space in our lives, and what should be left behind. These thoughts are the first layer of this current earth-water dynamic.

The Moon, already ripe and full with emotion and watery flow, is in Fixed Scorpio’s waters that ebb and flow through multi-layers of transformative outpouring. We have choice to remain guarded, hidden and introspective as the Scorpion of this sign’s energy; rise upwards into the light as the Eagle choosing a path that is more discerning in how those waters flow; or take the leap of faith required as the Phoenix renders to ash what it has laid bare and rises anew as a the stable current of fiery waters that carves out its own emotional landscape. Scorpio has always been one of those astrological signs that presents more like Fire than true Water; but then again, all of the elemental energies carry varying amounts of each of the other within them. This Fixed water of Scorpio can flow in a directed course or enter into stagnation o the desire to move is not appropriately placed. This provides the second layer of the current earth-water dynamic.

I mentioned earlier that the Sun and Moon are in opposition to one another. This is the traditional configuration of a Full Moon in alignment with the Solar Sign. Many hear opposition and identify this with conflict and avoidance. I have never perceived it that way. In fact, I view any opposition as an organic and healthy dialogue between polarized energies that seek a state of tension so that one or the other may find resolution at the appropriate point of interchange. Depending on the intention and what outcome may be needed, one may reach across and almost touch that id-point of equilateral balance, but this never quite happens in a moving state- the perfect mid-point actually meaning a stagnant place of stillness where neither receives the neutrality of a catalyst to transform the other. In the case of this Taurus and Scorpio exchange, the tension is one of manifest foundation (Taurus) striving towards the adaptability of transformation at multi-levels of being (Scorpio), and with each iteration of the application of tension, a newly created form emerges. A good analogy is to consider the birth of a Butterfly emerging from the cocoon, having shed the foundational blueprint of it caterpillar form.

Assistance from the Retrogrades:
Any retrograde is an opportunity to give more scrutiny and care to the energies emanating from that Planet. It is typified as a slowing down of the planetary orbit and as such provides a closer look at what could be tweaked, reshaped and reformed. Three (3) planets are currently Retrograde- Two in Earth signs and One in Water

Jupiter is Retrograde in Scorpio, so we have a resonance between the Great Expander and the Full Moon. Jupiter is noted for its expansive quality and much like the ebb and flow of the Moon’s tides, Jupiter also breathes in a rhythm of contraction and expansion. This is why Jupiter is often used for financial matters. There is an organic flow that moves through what we consider to be prosperity and the times of contraction (or lack) are necessary to allow for the bounty and prosperity to fill the coffers of what you desire. The gift here is one of harnessing this expansive nature as with each incremental striving towards the transformative power of Scorpio’s Phoenix, we provide time to rest and integrate within the “in breath/inspiration” gift in the contraction back to itself.

Saturn and Pluto are Retrograde in Capricorn, the earth sign of potential. Potential to reach deeply into the depths of emotions waters and the ability to retrieve and bring to the surface and higher what has been made manifest and revealed as the Sea-Goat navigates the heights of breath and mind. Saturn provides structure and orderly guidance as it oversees the process of pitfalls and failures. Unfortunately it can also become stuck and sluggish in advancement, not trusting that what is provided is enough.

Pluto is the planet of regeneration and concerns itself with death so that life may continue. I also seePluto’s energies as those of being able to reach into the far past, bring forward the necessary experiences and lessons as a new future is being created from the point of synthesis that wraps and enfolds the present. It too is in earthy Capricorn, and the potential for use this energy in a lateral way to further guide your efforts is potent in a retrograde focus.

The Raging Bull

In all of these cases, there is a pulse of rhythm, a natural ebb and flow/contraction and expansion/descent and ascent that is flowing through these solar charged waters. This is the Bull of the Taurean Sun, that is not content to stand still and in its movement causes upheaval and what appears to be collateral damage, but in so doing affirms life in its most manifest and passionate way. This is also a call to allow your primal nature to light the way, as the intuitive waters of Scorpio’s heart fuel your course with passion. Breathe into this ability to be adaptable (Moon in Scorpio) and stretch and reach (Jupiter in Scorpio) towards the Gates that hold the keys (Pluto in Capricorn) to what has been learned and what can be created with your intention. These are the Gates that provide the foundational structure Saturn in Capricorn)that may become the blueprint of success as you navigate these challenging times.

Lest you have the image of negative connotation in the word, “raging” my hint to you is held in the protective nature that is held in Taurus energy. Protective of home, family and those things that are the manifest image of that state of security and comfort. The raging bull is the guardian of all you hold dear and spiritually, it is the keeper of a wisdom that gifts its user with anchors that reach deeply into a manifest reality of your own highest creation.

Blessings of this Full Moon… Robin

Harmony of the Creative Mind-Full Moon in Libra

Posted in Astrology, Full Moon, Jupiter, Libra, Mercury, pathworking, Retrogrades on April 10, 2017 by themagickalpen

April 11.2017
Full Moon in Libra
2:08a.m.

In the early hours of the morning tomorrow, the Moon will wax full in the airy sign of Libra. Libra bears the gift of the cardinal/quickening modality and as an air/mental sign what blossoms are the seed thoughts that can be woven with will and desire in all efforts of creation.

Libra is known typically as the astrological sign of harmony (at all costs), beauty and refinement. Its ruling planet is Venus and so harmony of relationships is naturally interwoven into the expectations of Libra’s outpouring. Being of the Air element, these foci are ones of concept, rather than action (Fire), heart (Water) or physical (Earth) endeavors.

Now, let’s scale back the stereotypical attributions and think more clearly on what the definition of “beauty” and those scales of balance, that are the symbols of Libra, can become. We know the saying that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and no where does this hold more true than in the endeavors of Libra. The natural strivings towards harmony achieved by the weighing of all possible outcomes is held most often not in the idealized image of beauty but the state of refinement and clarity that is achieved when all is working harmoniously-that is truly a beautiful thing. Balance, particulalry when we have the image of scales, typically is perceived of as equality. Each scale in perfect balance with the other and a center line of equilibrium achieved!

But, balance is most productive when discernment and selectivity are in play. In every equation there will be times when something must be more than (weigh in heavier) than its opposing directive. And, as the scales begin to tip too heavily and what was originally dominant becomes overly exerted, the other must rise up, take hold and bring “balance” to what is no longer on point. If, at anytime during this process, both equally exert the same amount of force, inertia set’s in and what may appear to be blissful, soon runs its course and nothing new can be created. So, Libra’s scales that refine and calibrate to create the most harmonious state of mind that sees the beauty held in everything.

From that realization of beauty’s many visions, the potential for creation from a mind that is able to envision, weigh and refine what its wishes to bring into manifestation, exponentially becomes more powerful and ultimately more palpable.

This Full Moon, with the assistance of some creative allies holds the potential for beginning the work of drawing from the mind, applying the law of vibration through envisioning and recording that vision, and seeing with clarity the codifying of what is a viable product for manifestation.

Allies and Such

Venus, the planetary ruler of Libra has been retrograde since March 4 and is gearing up to loosen the intensity and station direct on April 15th. This retrograde has heightened the emotional responses and the seeking for justice and refinement of the status quo. Currently, Venus is in the watery sign of Pisces. So that beauty and justice sought after is laden with compassion and idealism regrading how this may be achieved.

Applying this intensity to the Libra basking in the full waters of emotive heart can enable heart and mind working together as the creative merging flows.

Additionally, Mercury stationed retrograde yesterday, April 9th. Mercury is the planetary ruler of Gemini, part of the Libran, Aquarius and Gemini triad of mental process and breath. Mercury is in the astrological sign of Taurus, giving an earthiness and rooting in of its communicative style. Here we have the ability to communicate (through Mercury’s gifts) what it is that we are called to create as Libra’s scales weigh and measure as each idea is created anew.

Jupiter has been retrograde since the early part of February and is currently in the astrological sign of Libra. Partner up with the expansive flexibility of Jupiter and create “big”. Now is not the time to limit your potential. Instead, allow this energy to blossom and expand in a flexible way and the ebb and flow that is the natural expansive and contractive nature of Jupiter will aid the process of bringing into balance all the components necessary for a “beautiful” outcome.

The Book of Creative Mind

The Book of Creative Mind is a pathworking I wrote many years ago and have used and shared many times since. this Full Moon is the perfect opportunity to begin your book; light up what you want to create and realize the power of creation contained within each of us. Once you have experienced the beauty of your mind’s creation and the heart-felt strength generated you will know the true meaning of balance and beauty.

Blessings of this Full Moon!

New Moon in Capricorn

Happy 2016! 2016 is a number Nine (2+1+6=9) Year. And, in the the first nine days of this new year Mercury and Jupiter station Retrograde.

The New Year kicks off with the Moon waning in the Cardinal sign of Libra, the great harmonizer. Father Sun, nearing its mid-point in Cardinal Capricorn lights up the landscape for the work of Mother Moon to begin her harmony of release and re-balancing. This is a good start to the New Year, particularly given its resonance to the number of Initiatory experience and crossing thresholds. Before we can begin the process of new growth we must release what is tipping the emotional scales towards unproductive and self-indulgent patterning. Look for this year to be one of opportunity to end what no longer serves and plant the seeds of what will be catalytic and transformative.

On January 5th the first Mercury Retrograde of this year occurs. Mercury aligns with Solar Capricorn and in this earthy sign communication will traverse the heights and the depths. Give extra time to fully process what is being said so that the mid-point of stable ground can be attained even within the exaggeration of what appears to be.

January 7th expansive Jupiter stations Retrograde in analytical Virgo. This is the ebb and flow of an ocean that captures every grain of sand in its grasp, sorting and sifting what will remain and what will be expanded out to broader horizons. This planet of abundance will remain retrograde until May 9th, building in its impact, contracting and pulling in what needs more discernment of intent. Virgo is another Earth sign so the action will take place in the physical and manifest realms of your being.

On January 9th, we feel the tides of the first New Moon of 2016. Mother Moon begins its waxing as it co-joins with Father Sun in the sign of Capricorn. Whatever you wish to gain stable ground in its forward efforts should be included in the magick of this New Moon. This will set the tone for the year ahead and provides a palpable and manifest opportunity to reach towards the fullness of what you’ve embarked upon when the moon waxes Full on the 23rd in dynamic and electromagnetic Leo.

Take a deep breath and welcome the New Year!

Uranus Direct
10:53pm(EST)

These past few days have been packed with celestial events that punctuate the soon to be ending of a year of highs and lows. The Solstice of December 21st. marked the longest night of the year and as the Sun transited in Capricorn at 11:49p.m., once again we entered the quickening of new Light and the hope that is birthed with that awakening. The Moon waxed in another Earth sign, Taurus and provided a triad of Fire (Sun)-Water (Moon) and Earth (Capricorn and Taurus). The Cardinal(new beginnings and first flow) energy of Capricorn’s Sun moved into position to feed its outpouring of new light into Lady Moon’s birthing waters that stood ready in the Fixed (stabilization and structure) energy of Taurus. Earth is the sign of manifestation, so the potential of what was begun at this Solstice is one of stable and manifest creation.

A few days of synthesis and continued expansion culminated last night as the Moon waxed Full in its native sign of Cancer at 6:11am (EST). What was birthed at the Solstice now has the nurturing of a heart filled with the fullness of unconditional love. The watchful and gentle light of Mother Moon shines brightly on her creation and the beauty of that creation is front and center for all to see.

Light reigned supreme in its return. Mother Moon and Father Sun stood proudly in revealing their creation and Uranus brought all to a culminating point of blasting the bounty of this energy into the far and greater reaches of cosmic connections…

Uranus Stations Direct

Uranus, was the last of six(6) planets that stationed Retrograde in 2015 to station Direct on the 25th. Each of these planets had a very specific flow of energetic change to weave into the stories we co-created in this year’s journey.

Jupiter in Leo heralded in its expansive wisdom at the start of 2015 (having been retrograde from December 8.2014). Leo expressed itself as the burner, whose flames rose and fell in accord with wherever the intention for increased flexibility that provoked change was focused. April 8th brought relief from this intensity as Jupiter stationed Direct.

Saturn in Sagittarius took up the work of Retrograde Focus on March 14th. The Master of Time and Mistress of the Primordial Womb, let fly the arrows of fiery connection and seeding that sought its place of catalyzation. All the while, time stood still and opened up the space of re-organization that would become a more viable structure for strong intentions. Saturn stationed Direct on August 1/2.

Pluto in Capricorn called us to reach deeply into the stores of memory that hold the key to the best and worst of our manifest efforts. Its Retrograde on April 16th marked the point of linear time that provided the first careful stepping into the synchronicity of our past and future experiences. Appropriately, within a few days of the Autumnal(Vernal) Equinox, Pluto stationed Direct, gathering with it a balance of all that had been revealed at the mid point of the present.

Neptune Stationed Retrograde in its Native sign of Pisces on June 12th. Waters ran deep and the depths of our feeling nature flowed strongly in all of our endeavors. The intensity of this focus pulled us into a heartscape that pulled to the surface what had been long buried and forced choice of either drowning or swimming more strongly in all that motivates us at the very core of our being. As the last push of tidal waters beat against a newly etched shoreline, Neptune stationed Direct on November 18th leaving the treasures of the deep seas on sands freshly bathed.

Venus in Capricorn turned heads as her grace and refinement poured abundantly, stationing Retrograde on July 25th. This Venus was one of earthy beauty and a call to exploring how we balance our mundane and spiritual selves. Where do we seek beauty and how we create that which exceeds expectations, keeps us grounded and moves into the depths of what our Soul desires. These were difficult lessons and the defining moments of what we truly desire in our manifest life were often unexpected. Venus stationed Direct on September 6th carrying into the time of Harvesting (or Seeding) a new vision of what a more harmonious potential.

Electrical Beginnings:

Uranus in Aries stationed Retrograde hot on the heels of Venus on July 26th. And in keeping with the dynamic and stimulating electrical impulses that are the process of Uranian change, this focus has been one of extreme intensity and un-relentless pursuit in refining and reformatting our electrical systems. The neural system was the recipient of this intensity, making for some very challenging months depending on your responses to being primed for amping up.

All System’s, Go! and The Blasted Tower

As we stand at the brink of crossing into the New Year of 2016, all systems are GO! for the changes that are yet to come. Challenge goes hand and hand with change, so there is no avoiding what will provide a year of change-and growth. How we respond to these changes; whether we choose to go kicking or screaming or to move with resilience of intention is a matter of how we express our free will.

What lay in the great beyond of worlds we have only imagined is just on the horizon and we are rapidly developing the tools required to gain sight of a loftier vision of what is possible. Science and Spirituality are no longer disparate streams, but do require that we broaden our personal perspectives, seeking the threadings of connection that run through each.

16-tower 2

I leave you with the image of the Tarot Key: The Tower

Imagine the Tower as the construct of your mind’s opinion, beliefs and boundaries of perception. The lightening bolt of Uranus’ electrical charge flashes and splits open that fortress you have built that, in reality, has held you captive in your own self-imposed limitations. Those that form the polarized conflicts (and mental debates) and allow entry only to those they find to be in accord with and non-threatening to their fortress are now cast out, no longer viable stewards of this newly changed structure. And, what remains is the foundation, unscathed, and perhaps stronger, that now may be rebuilt upon and re-inhabited with the creative potential of the unknown.

All systems, Go! Blast that tower! Open that mind! and Build high and strong into lands awaiting discovery!

Many blessings of this stellar ending to 2015 and abundance, prosperity in the coming year…. Robin

Under Pressure – Jupiter Stations Direct!

Posted in Auspicious Days, Jupiter on April 9, 2015 by themagickalpen

April 8.2015

Jupiter Direct in Leo

Jupiter Stationed Direct yesterday at 12:58p.m. This planet of expanse and flexibility began its retrograde last year on December 8th and has been responsible for a stretching of the norm and contracting in more deeply than is usual. It began its retrograde in the Fiery light of Leo and remains in this astrological sign until August of this year so anything that needs broader awareness takes center stage.

You may have noticed in yourself and/or others responses that seem strained and pressurized. You may have felt on the brink of the bursting point whether it was negative or positive in feeling. You may have felt as though you could not take on one more project, idea, product, etc. These were all the effects of Jupiter, hovering just above and making sure that its presence was drawn into the very center of your world, filling it with abundance.

The lessons gained from this purposeful expanding are those of a now much broader perspective of everything. The energy of Leo helped to heat things up and shed the spotlight precisely wherever it “chose”-note that I did not say “needed”. What could not survive the reshaping into a more malleable product succumbed to the organic dissolution that occurs when anything is stretched beyond its means. This may have erupted as the disconnect you suddenly felt in an area that you have long clung to as your reality. This reality was suddenly given a broader view and filled with the abundance that we all yearn for in all of our endeavors (but are, at times, not quite ready for). Problem is, if it has not been suitably prepared through careful planning, tending and testing for viability, the sudden thrust of increased energy shatters and tears apart what cannot be leaving us shaken and feeling off-balance.

Each of the astrological signs is designated by an expanse of intensity from 0-29-degrees. Breaking these down further into thirds we can liken these to stages of growth and the gaining of experience. Each third contains 10 degrees of further expression towards the next: (A little numerology seed for deeper contemplation)

0-9-degrees of any sign represents that signs’ first stirrings towards its full potential. Much like the infant to the young adult in how each stage brings a deeper level of knowing and more mature perspective. (This third ends with the number 9. Nine (9) is the great initiator; the threshold of endings of what was and the stirrings of what will now be. When we arrive at the energy of the young adult, we leave behind what we know of ourselves as a child, put away childish things and step into the unknown of the adult and realization of your individuality as the singular one (1))

1-19-degrees of any sign represents the time of responsibility, parenting and standing in the fullness as an adult forging their way and creating their own destiny. This energy is reflected in the stability of that’s sign area of expertise. These are the goals striven towards and the results of efforts of work offered towards those goals. (This third ends with the number 19. Breaking it down this is 1 and 9, side by side. The singular 1- you – and the next level of initiation (9) into the mysteries of the responsible adult who parents (not only children), creates home and pursues the success of their intended career. And the end point of this phase, you know who you are and have forged your place in the world. And, you have developed the importance of relationship and your place as no longer the singular but part of the collective (2))

20-29-degrees of any sign represents the most developed aspects of that energy. This is the soon to be retiree who has a wealth of experiences to draw from and can settle into the confidence that all actions from here forward must be used in their fullest possible way. These are the energies that recognize the timeliness and value of making all pursuits rich and densely filled with the joys of final journey. These are the energies that know of the cycle of life and death and in that knowledge bridge the space of endings and the new beginnings of the next sign’s energies. (This final third ends with 2 and 9. The two (2) that knows itself in relation to others and the collaborative energy offered whether or not you have a mate. The 9 of initiation is the peace to be found and wisdom gained in that understanding of relationship as a means of initiation and crossing through the threshold into what will emerge as something new (the beginning if the next astrological sign at 0-degrees). These are the degrees that define how the next iteration of energy will flow and what portion of prior experience will inform and what will lay in wait for another return to this marker.)

Jupiter is beginning its forward motion in the astrological sign of Leo at 12-degrees. The brilliant light of Leo, a Fire sign of the Fixed mobility has provided stability and a container for synthesize of what has expanded and what has been the source of contraction, This is the space of allowing yourself to be a source of magnetic attraction as you draw to yourself what is needed for your own growth as well as reflecting back the strength of purpose held in that self-awareness. And in this 12th degree, a mid-point, Jupiter has added the capability to expand and contract in a way that could ultimately bring you into the glorious daylight of your own potential and magnetic state of being.

This is your life opened to the awareness of what it truly feels like to breathe in the magnificence of the Universe and allow it to fill your being completely and fully. As Jupiter expands into this mode of attraction, we can continue the inner work begun during its retrograde. Breathe into the spaciousness that now lay within. Breathe into the potential of being prosperous at all levels of being; not simply financial gain, but also the prosperity of resiliency and flexibility of Spirit, mind and body.

Under Pressure

The image below is how I perceived this energy to moving through and in the space surrounding.  You will note that the point of connection (or intersection) is at the level of the throat. This is the space of communication. The spoken truths about our realities are scattered out to all from the place of the vocal chords. The inhale of expanding breath and the exhale and contraction of its release pour forth from the throat center. The conical center of expansion in downpour from Jupiter’s purposeful intent and the drawing in of that expansive form into the very core of our inner being. One size does not fit all so this energy contracts and finds its own way into the stream of our consciousness and upon arriving at the Throat center has synthesized and formed its center point of focus.

Slide1

In receptivity to this energy, what has now been taken in and reduced can be expanded upon as it is sent out to every cell of our being. The abundance that we seek is now within us. Moving inwardly towards outer expression and informing all that we allow to be immersed in its dynamic. This is what causes the pressurized feeling. We are not accustomed to such expanding force and our bodies (subtle, and eventually physical) will struggle and resist. But that feeling of fullness, of prosperity of thought, action and heart is palpable and unmistakable in its presence.

When we become more attuned and familiar with the planetary energies, Retrogrades, eclipses and other cosmic events become laden with possibility for growth rather than the often negative connotations associated with them. In accord with the laws of polarity everything has the potential of being the antithesis of the other. And likewise, everything has the potential of being the enhancement of the other. Giving consideration to these broadened perspectives allows for the real magick to begin to flow and the surrendering to positive and negative as merely a different reflection of the same lesson to be learned.

So, as we move forward with Jupiter’s energies allow it to open the aperture a little wider as you take in the abundance of life, the prosperity of relationship and the experience of yourself communicating this attitude back into the world.

A Tree of Loving Return – Sun in Pisces

Posted in Astrology, Jupiter, Magick, Moon Tide, Neptune, Qabalah, The Temple of the Sun on March 16, 2015 by themagickalpen

imgres-1

I dreamed that I was whole
I dreamed that the word was at peace
I dreamed that all of life understood love
I dreamed that mind knew its own power
I dreamed that wisdom was plentiful
I dreamed that injustice loosened its hold
I dreamed that humanity knew its worth
I dreamed that the work of this world
Called me into the seas of the next
I dreamed that I was whole and complete
As the running waters that ebb and flow within
A loving Tree ran through me

As we enter the Temple of the Sun, Qabalistically we are entering into connection with the central sphere on the Tree of Life, Tiphareth. The name given this sphere is Beauty and the energy is one of synthesis through sacrifice and integration through refinement of the sum of all of its parts. This is much the same energy that we experience in the course of a Solar year. The energy of each of the Zodiacal signs, their element and modality are modified and expressed through the brilliance of the Sun. And, in keeping with the evolutionary process of movement from one sign to the next, each is informed by the previous sign’s energy and contributes a part of its dynamic into the sign that follows. Please see the end of this post for recommendations about learning more about the Tree of Life.

Pisces and Neptune (Jupiter) on the Tree

Astrologically, we have learned that Pisces is ruled by Neptune, the planet of depth, emotion and quickening within birthing waters that are charged with life force. We have experienced the focus of an astrological energy that is loving in its nature and seeking always the place of harmonious interaction. This is the energy of the final sign of the Zodiacal Wheel and it is the vision of the Twin Fish that hints at the mystery and synchronicity to be achieved when heart is attuned to another.

Pisces is the quintessential water sign. Neptune as its ruler is aptly paired with a sign that reaches so deep into the seas and seeks the treasure of a golden heart that beats gently in every creature it encounters. Pisces is the dreamer and through the veiling of murky waters those dreams can take on a vastly different vision, which when brought to the surface does not glitter quite so brightly. The imperfections that are found are forgiven within a Piscean approach, but the level of discernment that is often needed is not as keen in some instances as it should be, leaving Pisces to pick up the pieces of those broken dreams.

The secondary (or original) ruler of Pisces is Jupiter. This is easily envisioned as the ebb and flow of waters that spread themselves too thin at times and go too far out into the ocean’s depths at others. Jupiter puts some of the illusory nature of those deep waters into perspective, allowing Pisces to see into those depths from the vantage point of seeing clear the way through as it parts the waters to reveal a seabed that is alive and rich in life and the nutrients that sustain it. But, that has to be the desired outcome, otherwise Jupiter remains contracted and tightly guarding what needs revealing.

Within the Qabalistic Tree, Pisces and Neptune hold their power in the Sphere of Kether and the Paths of the Tree – 29th and 23rd and Jupiter flows expansively in the 21st. Although, traditionally Kether is given no planetary attribution – the swirlings of creation being one of its assignations- I have also seen Neptune placed here and with it the endings and beginnings that lay within the creative potential of Pisces. When we speak of the energy of Pisces as an experience of compassion, non-judgment and great intuitive sensitivity we are calling forth those waters that run deep and forever cause lasting change wherever their path may lead.

This is the way of the Tree itself; to provide the necessary compassion to understand something more than itself and catalyze its ability to emanate and to do so as a purposeful and intended act of love for what it aspires to know. This is the loving creator/creatrix who willingly splits itself into the necessary components to ensure that new life will begin.

This is the desire for Creation that flows through Kether as the Godhead and is reflected down and through itself in the depths of refined emotions and the sensuous tides of seas that hold the experiences that are the source of the desire to BECOME.

Kether (Neptune) and Tiphareth (Sun)

Pisces Tree

Tiphareth and the Sun

Each of the Sephiroth and connecting Paths of the Tree of Life holds correspondence with a planetary and/or zodiacal energy. The physical Sun stands centrally within our solar system, providing light and heat. Tiphareth provides the space of transformation and the full force generator that distributes what is processed so it may be utilized and transmuted by whatever it emanates its energy into. This is the sacrificial aspect of this sphere. This is the action of enlivening within its own source to ensure the continuation of the creative process begun within the other components of the Tree. So we begin in this central hub of universal energy and move up the Mystic’s Path towards the Godhead or Crown of Source and the Limitless All of Kether.

Kether: The Sphere of the Limitless All

Nothing and everything
The endless void fills all time
Until…

One moves in the silence
Stretching and reaching
Towards the other as two
Swiftly take flight.

They mingle and join
Each claiming their own side
So three may point the way.
Each base stretched far and wide.

Foundations are laid
By another close at hand
Who opens the four sealed gates.
Disruption and creative force
Issues forth as the skillfully crafted
Shield of focus reflects the five.

The light is fixed
The seeker is found
As outpour of healing grace
Gives way to the
Harmonious six.

Each walks a path of experience
Pulling and gathering from
Vista’s extremes.
Wisdom and lessons hard won
Fill what moves within.

As six expands to become seven
The meandering web that
Connects becomes entwined.

A continuum of dual
Portal opening and eight
The final climax of force contained.

Like amoebas they move and
Wiggle and stretch and pull
And strain until the
Tension and release
Catapult them over
The initiatory threshold of
Death’s nine gates.

All scatter and disperse
Once again seamlessly
Part of the void of the all
Until…

Once again the singular one rises
Reaching out towards its
Newly quickened mate.

Upon entering Kether on the Tree you have reached the Source or the singular prime point of creation in its descent towards manifest form. Using the analogy of the flood-lights in a theater this is the process of Kether in emanation and creation. The lights themselves are pure white, but with the addition of colored gels that cover the lights something new is created. Specific moods and nuances are evoked. Each light appears to be different, yet if you strip it back to its core state, they are all singular white lights.

Kether is at once the most complex of the spheres and the most simple. This is reflected in its many names and attributions. To some degree these are influenced by the essence of its energy as much as the cultural and occult clues to the nature of the sphere that are contained within. Below is a listing of some of the more widely used names:

• Existence of Existence
• The Concealed of the Concealed
• The Ancient of the Ancient Ones

As you see from the semantics of the three above, the duality or doubling causes a unique polarity to arise. It is also a greater emphasis that is given to the attribute described, which alludes to the timelessness of the energetic construct of Kether. This is the construct of both the Primordial Point and the Point within the Circle.

Kether is the First Sphere on the Tree of Life. This is the place of both beginnings and endings; for in order that something may be born, something must be released to allow for its growth. Kether is assigned the Root of Air as element. And it is Pure Mind that is free to experience all loving compassion for it sees the imperfection of perfection and holds no judgment of what should be. One is the singular place of being that carries with it the hidden space that is more than just itself alone.

The space above and beyond the sphere of Kether is considered The Three Veils of Negative Existence.

What Lives in the Great Above
The Three Veils of Negative Existence

Three Veils

The veils reside above the tree and represent the levels of non-existence just prior to creative force. This is the space of the Great Unmanifest Universe.

Ayin is translated as “nothing” and is the highest and furthest away from Kether. It is the complete absence of existence.

Ayin Soph is the middle veil that emanates in turn from Ayin and is the space of no limit. It is force that is formless and without container or restraint of limitation.

Ayin Soph Aur is the closest veil to the Tree itself and emanates from the limitless nature of Ayin Soph. It means “limitless or eternal light”.

In consideration of the sphere of Kether, it is these Three Veils that create the stimulation, urge and subsequent action towards the Great emanation that is the downpour of Kether, the Crown itself reaching towards matter. We could think of this as the primordial waters that hold the mystery of life, much like the deep waters of the seas of Neptune and Pisces that hold the potential for creation of a new Zodiacal Wheel as Pisces flows into the birthing of a newly (in)formed Aries.

The 29th Path: Pisces and the Moon (A Celestial Reflection of Neptune’s Seas)

29th Path

My Soul seeks the beauty of
Your refined and elegant grace.

My body yearns for the wisdom
Of love and creative fires.

My Spirit hungers for the lessons
Found in the bliss of exquisite form.

The 29th Path is considered the Physical Intelligence. This energy is one of actualizing what the heart desires most. It is the form of intelligence that only finds completion of its nature through physical expression and the will to create and craft. Organization and refinement of what that creation will become are important guides for this energy.

The Planetary/Zodiacal Energy
Moon/Pisces

The Moon is placed upon the 29th Path. Pisces is the astrological sign placed upon this path and represents the completion of the zodiacal wheel. Both of these energies are the fullness of emotional expression and intuitive sight. We are all familiar with the energy of the Moon, the waxing and waning of her phases and the power of her tides. Pisces adds the intensity of intentioned compassion and a grace of flow that signals the endings of one phase and the birthing waters that will signal the next.

This energy is what will stir the passions towards greater and deeper expression of what is refined and beautiful. This is the energy that fuels the soul’s need and inspires the outpouring of this emotional state of pure joy into a state of victorious expression.

Tarot Key XVIII – The Moon

moongild
Image: The Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marchetti

Note: Each of the Paths of the Qabalistic Tree has the assignation of a Tarot key placed upon it as further correspondence to its energy. The Paths 11-32 are represented using the Major Arcana cards.

Tarot Key XVIII – The Moon is placed upon the 29th Path. The beasts howl at Lady Moon the queen of ebb and flow and emotional expression. All are attentive to her form and all are held under the sway of her impact. Earth bows to her grace and dreams flow freely as we dip into the oceans that reveal the pearls of great price. Placement of this tarot Key on this path offers encouragement to the power of dreams, visioning, intuitive sight and what is created from our forays into these realms. Music soothes the savage soul, so to the outpouring of creation in phase and cycle of the moon restores man’s connection to the creative effort anchored in the physical and germinated in the spiritual.

Another Path of Expression: Neptune on the 23rd Path

23rd Path
The Sustaining Consciousness

The 23rd Path is considered the Sustaining Consciousness. Thought is sustained by the continual effort of sifting through what is abstract and what can become concrete in clarity and conception. This is the space of brainstorming, so to speak and flexibility and adaptability of mindset in thinking outside of the box is required as the process of selectively weeding through begins. This space of consciousness is one that begins with the precursor of bliss. The pure joy of interface with the Divine and the mental image of that interface that emerges. This is the experience of the Divine as blueprint of what it desires to create in manifest form. The specifications of the blueprint may change in accord with the modifications made, but the basic shape form and energy that created it remains a constant and sustained underlying schematic.

The Element of Water

The element of the 23rd Path is that of Water. These are the waters whose currents run strongly to reshape the shorelines. These are the waters that flow continually carrying within life and potential of the spawning of new form. These are the evolutionary waters that set the process of human form into action. The element of water runs strongly through the 23rd Path. Hod is considered the water temple although its attribution is one of mind and intellect (normally attributed to air). In this respect the flow and intuitive response of water is the deciding factor in what passes through the gates of mind. These waters run deeply into the caverns and recesses of lingering thoughts and flush out what is useless in its creation.

The Planetary Energy
Neptune

The planet Neptune is placed on the 23rd Path. Neptune’s energy is one of deep insight. The image of the trident suggests the trifold nature of mind, will and the fires that catalyze and create the electrical discharge of brilliant pure thought. Neptune offers the promise of visionary dreams and floods of idea and creative image to inspire and further inventiveness. Geburah’s will sets forth the mandate of viability and Hod’s brilliance fills the watery depths with the fires of deep gnosis.

Secondary Ruler Jupiter on the Tree
The 21st Path

21st Path

The 21st Path is one of opportunity for achieving Grace. The state of Grace has many meaning but within this path it is the reflection of the beginning of refinement of self and surroundings to become in greater alignment with the spiritual aspiration of selflessness and greater perspective. The lens of the camera opens and the world in which we claim our victories is seen for its narrow view. As the lens opens wider the expanse and truth of what we have claimed falls away and the real worth and value of those experiences is revealed as part of a larger whole that encompasses the victories of much more than ourselves. What happens in the stages between as each of the extremes coalesce on central ground determines the outcome of ascent to claim the Higher Self or descent for further refinement and accumulated experience. This Path is also one of Water.

The Planetary Energy
Jupiter

The planet Jupiter is placed upon the 21st Path. Jupiter is the planet of expansiveness and inclusiveness. It is one of abundance and the magnetic attraction of prosperity of what is needed collectively. This quality of energy in connection to Chesed and Netzach maintains a constant supply of balanced and fertile inspiration. Chesed has the depth of experience that are the materials used in the process of creative outpour. The application of Jupiter’s energy works to bring these attributes to their fullest expression so that the maximum potential is held within the union of these two.

Union of Mind and Heart

Pisces Combined Paths

We see within the nature of Pisces the union of Mind and Heart reflected within the Tree. The 23rd Path is place of Pure Mind (Hod) tempered by Action (Geburah) and the 21st Path, directly opposite is that of Heart (Netzach) balanced by Mercy (Chesed). The space held between these two that flow both upwards and downwards is the Middle Pillar of those spheres that are the direct route of communication between the Divine and the Manifest. It is both the place of endings and beginnings and just as the current of flow moves within the heart and mind of Pisces, its union is the return to wholeness informed by compassion and grace.

In Conclusion:

We have come full circle around the Zodiacal Wheel and the Solar Year and have looked at the Tree of Life as more than essence and form. We have come to know the astrology of the Tree as one of many currents flowing through its branches and reaching up into the Cosmos as it anchors itself in the body of the Earth’s bounty. This however, is just the beginning of a journey that sees many lifetimes of expression and in acceptance of this truth we also realize the inter-connectedness that all of life shares.

As the light of Tiphareth (Sun) shines brightly and radiates its vision of magnetic attraction throughout the multilayered branches of a tree that reaches far and wide in its expanse and impact we are reminded that in this vision of light extending towards light and darkness forming the paths of the space between, we realize the gift of humanity that continually connects us the higher aspiration of Divinity.

Cliff Diving – Full Moon in Virgo

Posted in Full Moon, Jupiter, The Temple of the Sun on March 4, 2015 by themagickalpen

Young Man Diving into Sea at Pirate's Cave
Full Moon in Virgo
March 5.2015
1:05 pm (EST)

Sun in Pisces

The Moon waxes Full tomorrow afternoon at 1:05 pm (EST) in the astrological sign of Virgo (Mutable Earth). The opposition of astrological energy that naturally occurs during a Full Moon phase is the tug of war between what appear to be opposing energies. In this lunation that thought is best expressed using the imagery of carefully and methodically planning the details (Virgo Moon) of how you will express your emotions in a loving and compassionate way (Pisces Sun). The strength of Solar energy is mid-point in watery depths of Pisces, the quintessential sign of understanding and empathetic nature. As the water’s of Mother Moon flow into the earthy and very concrete sign of Virgo, nothing will rise up from these intuitive depths until it has stood the test of Virgo’s analysis and organizational impact.

The quality of Mutable Water is that of being the first gurgling of what will, if productively managed, become the flowing stream that offers moisture to all that is in its path. This Virgo Full Moon midpoint in what could become an emotional overload (think heated waters that already are taking in all sorts of energetic response) is precisely what is need to almost homeopathically cancel out the flood gates over flowing and destroying rater than nurturing.

Mutable signs are the source of beginnings and catalytic prodding towards form. As such when applied to Earth the action is one of providing newly formed foundations that will ensure manifestation. Detail and correct decision making and strategizing are paramount to the success of whatever is begun. Add to this the Solar expression of Pisces, the harmonizer through love, informer through intuitive insight and compassionate healer and you have a recipe for creating a manifest product that is infused with the correct balance of heart and creative action.

The caution however is one of over-analysis and building the foundation so securely that nothing new can enter. The attention to detail is critical but only in as much as the baby is not thrown out with the bathwater. Second guessing the naturally intuitive process of Piscean energy, particularly that which has been strengthened and brought into the light of Solar magnetism can halt the usefulness of its insight, having missed the chance to effectively use the insight received.

It’s All in the Details…

The challenge in this Full Moon’s energy is one of applying just enough scrutiny (Virgo) without destroying the confidence of trusting the emotional and intuitive flow (Pisces). Pisces is very much an energy that can easily slip into self doubt and feeling inadequate. This is primarily because of the sacrificial nature of its action. Great care must be exerted to be sure that Virgo does not linger too long obsessing over the ideal of perfection and validation. From a perspective of elemental correlate, we have the opposition of Sun in watery and highly emotional Pisces and Moon in earthy and solid unyielding Virgo. Water can carve out new paths (of expression) along the path of earth it follows; and earth can remain as a barrier in allowing the life-giving waters to flow where they are most needed. A little resistance offers the inspiration for harder effort. When this occurs, growth is certain.

This is an excellent Full Moon configuration for looking a little more deeply at where you are investing your emotional energy. Trust your findings and be ready to tweak and modify as you strip away what serves and what hinders.

Jupiter Remains Retrograde in Leo

Jupiter acts as the expansive ingredient. Retrograde, that expansion takes the form of density and amplification of what would normally flex and contract easily and smoothly. In the astrological sign of Leo this amplification could be used as the electromagnetic field that draws to itself quickly and easily.

The mid-point of Sun in Pisces and Virgo offers a combined effort of Water (Pisces) – Earth (Virgo) and the expansion of Fire (Leo) as the catalysts of quickening. Jupiter stations direct in April so the intensity of this expansive nature is pressured in its action. Compassion (Pisces) drawn into the Manifest Form (Virgo) can now be expanded upon and used as a stimulant for creating the space of self-love and forgiveness. Once this is acquired, seeing this compassionate expression in others becomes the natural state of being.

Diving off the Cliff

I have carefully calculated the drop and how deep these waters are that I am willingly throwing myself into. The distance is great, but the exhilaration of having achieved this level of self-trust and confidence is well worth the action. I trust the strength of my body and the skill I have attained by practicing and preparing for this moment. I feel alive and powerful in my choice and I love the person I have become in over-coming my fears and doubts.

I breathe deeply and jump into waters that are deep and moving. I descend steady and able, with great care and allow the air to gently cradle and support. Water splashes, body enters and the feeling is magnificent. I rise to the surface and look up towards the ledge of great height where I started this journey. At this moment and in these waters I am alive and at one with life.

I step out of the water and Mother Moon lights the way as I come to sit at the edge of the waters. My heart is full and I know that this is just the beginning of learning to trust myself and my abilities. With careful planning I can achieve many things.

Retrogrades: Jupiter in Leo and Mercury in Capricorn

The Moon waxes Full Tuesday evening at 6:09 pm (EST) in the astrological sign of Leo (Fixed Fire). The opposition of astrological energy that naturally occurs during a Full Moon phase is the tug of war between what appear to be opposing energies. In this lunation that thought is best expressed using the imagery of a big cat on the prowl, moving with stealth and hidden in the darkness of the night sky- until it walks into the rays of moonlight. The strength of Solar energy is mid-point in the visionary sign of inquisitive Aquarius; this is the energy that seeks its information in all spaces, both overt and occult. As the creative waters of Mother’s Moon are strengthened with the Leonine dynamics and skill of Leo; Aquarius often presents its insights and all the while those recipients of these bytes of info, had no clue these were part of the skill set for that individual. When Aquarius goes on the prowl for knowledge, nothing is off-limits for what it seeks out intuitively (Lunar). The quality of Fixed Fire is that of applying the necessary heat that will force movement and thus catalyze to active synthesis and expansion of whatever that heat makes application to.

Fixed signs are the source of stability primarily through their ability to gather everything that is relevant, stir til just right and then allow natural expansion to occur moving towards something entirely unexpected. As such when applied to water the action is one of forming boundaries and creating suitable container to distribute the flow in a viable manner. Add to this the Solar expression of Leo, that finds its greatest strength in the sheer magnetic appeal of placing itself in the center of any situation and you have the necessary fires of magnetic attraction that serve to quicken as the womb of creation becomes a fertile container for whatever may be birthed.

The caution however is one of making that container one that is driven by ego and action that is only directed towards self-gratification. Being in the spotlight and the strength and courage that is acquired from adoration and accolades is very seductive. Having the potential for great leadership can go terribly wrong when it becomes domination rather than collaborative and caring interaction. No great leader has become so without recognition that without having mutual respect between themselves and those they lead is the first and foremost ingredient to success.

Drawn to the Light…
flame_zpsc73445e5

The challenge in this Full Moon’s energy is one of balance and finding just the right amount of claiming your place in the spotlight (Leo) and doing so for the sake of humanity’s uplifting (Aquarius). Like the moth attracted to the light, a swift demise in what your initial altruistic intention was may occur with too much attention and light that reveals your vulnerabilities. If we draw on the Sun’s energy of strengthening Aquarius’ natural detachment from singular human needs, the potential to remain strong and determined in what will benefit all concerned is much more likely.

From a perspective of elemental correlate, we have the opposition of Sun in Airy and cerebral Aquarius and Moon in Fiery and fiercely protective Leo. Water fans the flame of Fire if appropriately and gently applied. If too much force of air is released that same flame may be extinguished if it has not been allowed sufficient time to build in intensity. Mind and Will to Action are great bedfellows that produce the most amazing and accomplished of children when each is willing to give a part of themselves in sacrifice to other. If not approached with mutual respect, all those wonderful inventive thoughts dissipate and never take form and the will to act burns itself out moving without informed direction in a chaotic and unproductive way.

This is an excellent Full Moon configuration for finding that place within that inspires you to move, act, think, and fuel a future that exemplifies the higher vision of your most creative self.

Retrogrades of Potential:
Mercury in Capricorn and Jupiter in Leo

You may have wondered why I did not post about the Mercury Retrograde that occurred on January…. If you have been following these Temple explorations, you know that I like to think outside the box, and push the standard interpretation to reveal a more intuitive expression. I waited for the mid-point of both the Mercury and Jupiter retrogrades for this Full Moon and the mid-point of the Solar energy of Aquarius.

Mercury is mid-point in its retrograde energy of Capricorn; the astrological sign we explored last month that holds the keys to dipping into what will ground and anchor and reaching up towards what connects us to the cosmos. Capricorn relates to the “human” experience and manifest reality, so those communications will be practical mundane in orientation. Although Mercury retrograde has the bad rap of miscommunication, what if we thought instead of this dynamic as opportunity to be more precise and deliberate in our communications. Add the range of Capricorn’s experience and its sure-footed style and we have optimum time for really taking our time in what and how we communicate. Add a Full Moon that is in Leo and this deliberate pacing can be applied to those passions (heated (leo) water (moon)) that we act impulsively on and then regret that impetuosity later.

Jupiter acts as the expansive ingredient. Retrograde, that expansion takes the form of density and amplification of what would normally flex and contract easily and smoothly. In the astrological sign of Leo- and with the Moon being in Leo- this amplification could be used as the electromagnetic field that draws to itself quickly and easily.

Combine Mercury and Jupiter’s dynamics as a working tool and the potency of this Full Moon kicked up several notches and what we seek to attract is drawn from the depths of what me MOST desire and are passionately and emotionally engaged in. Magickal work requires intention fueled by desire (and what fires us up). This is the perfect combination for fueling an intention that requires extra magnetism and concrete, deliberate communication sent into the aethers.

The mid-point of Sun in Aquarius adds the dynamics of probing the future and intuitively rationalizing an outcome that is inventive and creative. A skill of Aqaurius is being able to see the bigger picture- apply that to the working of Mercury and Jupiter described above- and you have the possibility for having a stable container (Fixed Air) that thought (Aquarius) and heart (Moon) can co-create.

On the Prowl…

Silently under full moon’s light I move seeking the all that I most desire. Emotions well up and I envision a future that holds all in the embrace of God and Goddess. I feel the weight of this future’s responsibility and think on how I may step into the spotlight and shout to all of the world that this is the plan that will change everything that we believed not possible.

Quietly I seek out all that I need to know to bring this future into reality. Stealthily I inquire and dive deeply into the emotional reserves of all I meet to see what it is that will quicken their creative fires towards this goal.

Mother Moon lights the way and the need to fuel this desire and intention grows and expands within my beating heart that connects me to all of humanity. Soon the Sun will rise and I will emerge from my night on the prowl, sated from my informed capture and strong enough to courageously act upon the work that is at hand.
