Full Moon in Scorpio
11:42pm (EDT)

The Moon waxes full in the astrological sign of Scorpio late Sunday evening. It uses the cover of darkened night to exert the mystery and hidden truths that are part and parcel of Scorpion energy.

A Full Moon signifies the opposition of Sun and Moon. In this case we have the strength, solidity and straight forwardness of the earthy Taurus Sun feeling the passive aggressiveness of a moody emotional landscape filled with hidden surprises and carefully guarded secrets that is the life’s blood of a Scorpio Moon. Scorpio is known for its mystery and the ability to intuit information as it dips deeply into areas that prefer their privacy. The challenge is one of remaining too long in this space of introspection and the effects of becoming prisoner of your own darker nature. This is also why Scorpio is prone to obsessive and addictive behavior.  Now, although this can become a detriment, that same obsessive and addictive nature can be re-tooled to become the passion that guides the course to success and the stability of habitual and predictable response that holds steady the course when everything around is in chaos.

So, how can this energy be used at the Full Moon? It’s a great time to do some soul searching and call to the foreground what keeps you motivated at an emotional level. What are your passions and what form of disciplined action will you create that becomes your positive and productive addiction? My natal Moon is in Scorpio, so I use the energy of a moon in Scorpio to sit in reflection, allow myself intuitive nature to rise up and become the healing waters that transform. An aspect of Scorpio that is often overlooked is that of healing. One of its associations is that of Death. Any death leaves the space for new growth to begin. Having Mother Moon cloaked in Scorpio’s death pall ensures that wherever there is release, healing is soon to follow.

Saturn (Mid-March) and Pluto (Mid-April) are Retrograde:

We are only two weeks into the Pluto Retrograde and already there are signs that many people are feeling its effects. Tightly wound and seeming to be vibrating within with pent up energy that is just about ready to burst is not uncommon and put a group of this energy together and the effect is much like the vibrating tray of metal balls- some bumping into each and causing others to fall off!

I had mentioned in the last post that Pluto is the ruling planet of Scorpio, and although it is not currently in that astrological sign, it still provides one of the underlying currents of this Full Moon’s energies. Mother Moon will provide additional light into those darkened recesses and what has been percolating at a personal level will have the opportunity for closer inspection.

Another Aspect to Consider

Mercury will form an aspect in opposition to (Retrograde) Saturn. Mercury is the planet of communication and Saturn likes to keep order and structure with tight control. With the dynamic of these two in opposition, and the added emphasis of Saturn’s nature while retrograde think on the concept of censorship and difficulty getting everything out that you wish to express (Mercury) because it has just been re-written by the CEO of micromanagement.

Much of what will be communicated will be restricted in its content and interpretation, so as you sit in reflection or have desire to allow the full moon to inform, be mindful that you will only be receiving part of the communication intended. Take what is given and then allow Time (another of Saturn’s focus)to fill in as it will what was not able to be fully received.

Mercury is gearing up for its retrograde on May 18th, heralding a Trinity of Air (Mercury), Fire (Saturn) and Earth (Pluto); all highly focused and directed by their planet’s retrograde.

From the Center of My Being:

Let the fullness of the Moon’s Light and the healing of Scorpio’s waters purify and open up the space of integration and inner work that has been called into action in the very core of who and what you are. This is the time for a bit of breathing room from the rigidity exacted by Saturn as Pluto dug deeply to retrieve and reveal to you what the past held and the future promises. Allow the sting of the Scorpion’s tail to part the internal veiling that has left you feeling at odds and off-center.

Let the deep water’s of Mother Moon’s grace provide the light by the lessons learned from Saturn’s structure may be carried on the wings of Scorpio’s keen sighted Eagle. And, as this flooding of purifying light bursts forth let its fires transform what is ready to receive the blessing of Scorpio’s Phoenix. These steps are the necessary healing that must occur as we enter the next round of retrograde Saturn and Pluto’s catalyzing energy.

Remember, one step at a time. A time for assessing. A time for re-ordering. A time for integration and agitation. A time for transformation. A time for purifying and preparation and a time for things ti begin anew so the next level of steps may be realized.

Neptune Retrograde
June 9- November 15
3:51 p.m.

We are currently in the holding pattern of 4 planets that have stationed Retrograde in the past few months:

Saturn (structure and discipline) March 2 – July 20
Pluto (regeneration and transformation) April 14 – September 22
Mercury (communication) June 7 – July 1

And, the latest planet, Neptune that began its retrograde on June 9th. Each of these planets has their own particular intensity in the normal progressions, so when they retrograde in their cycles and hold strong for the duration of that transit, everything is magnified and enabled for deep and potentially very productive inner dialogue.

We are several weeks into the Saturn and Pluto retrogrades and no doubt you have sensed an underlying need for change (Pluto) that would bring order (Saturn) to certain areas of your life. At times this push was most likely unavoidable and the emotions generated were bubbling under the guise of detachment and apathy (Pluto) as you struggled to hold tight to the (chaotic) status quo. If you have been actively working with the Saturnian and Plutonian energies, although there is still much work to be done in shoring up those aspects within your life that need greater control and regimen (Saturn), you have made efforts towards revitalizing and transforming (Pluto) what could be saved as you sought out to find the weak points and bolster (Saturn) them with more disciplined action and intent.

Mercury’s recent retrograde added to the mix offers the opportunity for deeper scrutiny and a pause on charging ahead. Think of it as a filter to be sure that everything is truly in the correct state of affairs and ready to be expressed (Mercury) in the best possible light when the dust clears and Mercury moves direct. Add to this mix a retrograde of Neptune and you have the potion of change at all levels of self.

Neptune is the ruling planet of Pisces (the most compassionate of the Zodiacal signs) and is considered the deepest waters of emotional expression. At this level of submersion the outcome of successful navigation is finding those treasures buried deeply within the subconscious and finding all of those beautiful aspects of self that light the deep abyss with bioluminescence. This light is the heightened awareness that intuitively guides you through the darkness, trusting its course. As Neptune stationed retrograde, the Moon was waxing in the astrological sign of Scorpio. This added a deeper complexity to the start of this retrograde, both being of water, hidden resources and the mysteries of the subconscious.

In Esoteric astrology, Neptune is considered the higher octave of the Moon and is most closely linked to the work of the Soul as it manifests its purpose through our physical form. These are the emotions that have been drawn into the Soul level and have been infused with a deep and mystical understanding of all compassionate Love. This burgeoning of compassion produces a sensitivity to others that during the retrograde may become more pronounced. Try to take nothing “personally”, but instead allow these feelings to move easily along simply acknowledging them and then letting them pass. Part of the work in being human is learning that we can be attuned to others, but do not need to wear the mantle of their sorrows as our own.

The Moon provides the flow of understanding and intuition that create the space for healing and compassion. The waxing and waning of this energy, carefully carving the pathway of opening, much like the shoreline’s redefinition with the ebb and flow of the tides, that changes the way in which we interact and present ourselves to the world. This is the aspect of “humanity” within that connects us to the collective condition of the human race. This is where understanding and compassion lives within and it is from the vista of this inner temple that we can safely dive into the surrounding waters that hold the keys for expression. If we amplify this energy moving deeper into the mysteries of our emotional seascape, Neptune (Archetypically, The King of the Sea) awaits us ready to guide that journey.

Neptune comes as an initiator into the deeper mysteries of the Soul’s work. Much of this work is brought to the surface through our dreams and the intended focus of allowing ourselves to be receptive to the insights offered. Traditionally, Neptune is attributed with holding a veil of illusion that clouds the true sight. It is true that the deep waters of the ocean’s depths can be murky and lack the clarity that is needed in seeing what lay ahead. But, this so called “veiling” is also what encourages us to rely on our inner sense of sight and visioning that is the truer course. The lifting of this veil is also the threshold we pass through as we enter into the dream state and deep visioning.

When Neptune retrogrades our dreams often become richer and more active as the intuitive senses open to the deeper reserves that are Neptune’s domain. Entering into the dream state with questions posed or a problem to be solved during this time will often provide the necessary keys for answer and resolution. If we approach this work wielding the Trident of King Neptune we can make use of the specific type of energy it represents. This triad emanates will, love and intellect working cohesively through its pointed directive. This interaction pierces the waters of our deepest nature and the result is one of active creation and transformation of what rises to the surface. We require the will of desire to accomplish our intended goal. The emotional engagement (love) fuels that desire and the inventive mind allows us to see the task from all perspectives and reach viable conclusion. The cycle begins anew with the seed of thought (intellect) acting as catalyst to inspired the newly informed will to love.

So, dive deeply into the dreamscape. Hold the intent of seeing with a deeper sense of what will support your spiritual journey and light the way towards moving intuitively and organically through all of your actions. Envision a space of deepening that is your inner Temple of insight that allows you to lift the veil of what you feel yourself to be. Look out on the vastness that is the ocean of your dreams, hopes, creations and all things that add the “humanity” to your physical expression.

A Little Numerology:

Neptune retrogrades on the Ninth (9) day of the Sixth (6) month. Nine is the number of initiations, thresholds, death and rebirth. Six is the illumined trinity of harmonious action. The 3 parts of selves elevated in dialogue with the 3 higher parts of Being. And, the entire year we re held under the number 7 (2014= 2+1+4=7). Seven is the number of new paths taken carved from the experiences and lessons learned previously. It is the space of higher education and new trails to be blazed.

New Moon Capricorn

January 1.2014 New Moon in Capricorn   6:14 a.m.

We kick off the New Year with the Moon New in the astrological sign of Capricorn- the Sea Goat. Capricorn is of the element Earth which gives its energy one of foundation, strength and the ability to manifest.  It is a Cardinal sign meaning that its energy is one of initializing and acting as the first outpouring for what will be gathered into form as it flows into the Fixed sign of Aquarius on Thursday afternoon.

This timing offers a triple bolstering of new and vibrant energy to draw from.  The first day of a New Year boasting a New Moon phase in a Cardinal (Beginnings) astrological sign. We are also still in the hold of a Venus Retrograde so, the opportunity to connect the re-balancing of heart (Venus) and weave that energy into the new paths available with a New Moon in an Earth sign are all supportive towards plummeting the depths (Capricorn- Sea) and sure-footedly scaling the heights (Capricorn-Goat) to lay the ground work for lasting and durable change.

Capricorn’s planetary ruler is Saturn, so structure, order and timeliness are keywords for accessing the sea-goat’s energy.  Self-discipline creates the boundaries that can fertilize and inseminate the fertile ground of our manifest form.  The aspect of determination in achieving the goal desired and the appropriate pacing of energy, focus and adequate time for expansion and contraction of that focus establish a rhythm and orderliness that ensures an outcome.  Notice that I did not say positive, as the determination of whether the outcome is positive or detrimental is all in how discipline is applied and the correct timing for the planting of the seeds.  A detriment of Capricorn is that the individual can get so caught up in the process; creating barriers and faulty structures that are self-perpetuated that what should be glorious success withers into frustrated repetition.  This is where Saturn as the Gatekeeper of time exerts his will in stirring up the pot so it can move freely and of its own accord if the lessons are heeded.

A New Moon Working in Capricorn*:

Workings may include: career- ambition-organization- stabilizing- structuring

My intent for this New Moon (New Year) is one of building a solid and heart-centered foundation for personal growth this upcoming year.

NewMoonCapricorn2014

I will light a white candle to illuminate my mind and thoughts as I reach deeply into the stores of memory. I will sit quietly and reflect on what I have carried forward from this past year.  My achievements, my goals and those things that I did not quite hit the mark in the way I had hoped.

I will light a black candle as the fertile space of incubation and setting held within the mask of the New Moon’s shadow of veiling.  I will draw from each of these memories the seeds of new planting to begin the fertile ground for this year. I will breathe my Intent and Will  into this candle and these seeds of aspiration. I envision it as lit from within ready to shine fully and brightly at the next Full Moon.

So Mote it Be!

* A side note.

In astrology, each of the zodiacal signs rules a specific house (1-12) when placed in order around the flat wheel. Capricorn sits as ruler at the place of the Midheaven in the 10th House of  the flat astrological wheel (This is the wheel that follows the order of the Zodiac from Aries in the 1st House counterclockwise around to Pisces in the 12th House and is not associated with anyone’s birth).  The Midheaven is the point in the natal astrological chart where “you shine”. It is the space where recognition for achievement and success are held as potential. Capricorn carries this as  latent energy wherever it shows up.
