New Moon in Gemini
10:59p.m. (EDT)

Sun in Gemini

Mutable Grand Cross
Phase One

Neptune in Pisces & Jupiter in Virgo
(Retrograde) Saturn in Sagittarius & Venus in Gemini

The Moon enters a new beginning late Saturday evening and brings with it a host of stellar events that will shape how we move through the weeks up to the Solstice Full Moon on the 20th, and beyond!

The buzzword for this month is Mutable Grand Cross and it carries an intensity and potential for reaction or response. A Grand Cross occurs when four (4) planets create aspects that result in 2 dynamics (or lines) of opposition; intersecting creating 4/right angles at the mid-point and thus forming the geometric image of a cross. Additionally, these four planets each represent the four alchemical elements (earth-air-fire-water) of one of three modalities; meaning that they are the four elements of a Cardinal (beginning catalyst) – Fixed (stability of synthesis) -or, in this case – Mutable (flexibility of ebb and flow) Cross.

The Mutability of this auspicious celestial event provides the lessons of adaptability and resiliency. In the cycle of the three modalities, the Cardinal beginnings or seeding moves towards the Fixed intention of synthesizing and providing structure so that the energy may be utilized. Once the bolstering and defining work of the Fixed nature is complete, this newly organized energy moves into the space of Mutable imprint, where it may expand, test its flexibility and in so doing, ultimately release its former constraints and bring with it the experience of its journey that spills into that will be birthed anew as it feeds the Cardinal spark of new beginnings. This Grand Cross of Mutability is both a time of releasing what has been outgrown and feeding what will be the next phase of journey that heralds a new way of “being”.

There are two (2) Grand Crosses that will occur this month- the first at the New Moon and the second on the Full Moon on June 20th. In both instances retrograde planets remain and, in the case of the second, the inclusion of a Solar transit and the Solstice. As with most astrological events, these aspects and dynamics do not happen all at once, but are the peak of planetary movement inching its way towards creating enough change to form a dynamic pattern that refuses to remain unnoticed. Remembering this is a way to keep yourself on track; maintain a balanced approach and choose carefully how you will re-act or respond to the accumulated energy.

Gemini – The Erudite Professor or Eloquent Persuader?

This New Moon and Sun in Gemini are tools that can be used to navigate the opposition of Retrograde Saturn in Sagittarius. One of the Cross lines of opposing agendas will occur with Saturn in Sagittarius and Venus in Gemini. This means that Gemini is represented three times: New Moon, Sun and Venus. This also means that communication may have the same effect as listening to a broadcast of crossed wires and mixed signals. We just experienced the loosening of Mercury’s Retrograde (the ruling planet of Gemini) on the 22nd of May, and are still receiving some of the errant waves of miscommunication that are lingering behind.

Saturn seeks to control and re-order whatever it lays its application towards and the weight of this energy remaining retrograde in Sagittarius, can act in a way that suppresses the organic flow and outreach of Sagittarius’ inquiring nature. Sagittarian Fire seeks to find the place of viable landing of multiple arrows of connection and action that are dispersed. Now, that aim and release is imbued with a highly structured and controlled approach, putting on hold the natural spontaneity of the Sagittarian archer.

Venus seeks the balance and harmony of a refined order that produces beautiful result. Beauty, not limited by the visual constructs of what “beauty” means to us personally, but broadened to see the inherent beauty in the design that contributes to what that construct becomes. Venus wearing the mantle of Gemini adds to this balance versatility and adeptness around how that balance is expressed and what form that expression takes. Gemini is the master of duality (and manipulative persuasion, if necessary) and facility of style surrounding all manner of communication.

Put these two together on the same line of trajectory, as is the case of this line of the Grand Cross and false starts, hiccups and what seeks to order can actually create a jam up of efforts at communicating clearly and in harmony with a defined and precise aim.

This dynamic also leaves open the space for persuasion to take hold, simply because it “seems” like the right course instead of holding steady and choosing a response that has knowledge and consideration of previous experience as its guide. That also means, being patient enough to allow that information to come of its own accord.

Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter in Virgo..

The second line of dynamic in the Grand Cross is that of flowing waters and expansion that moves much like a ratchet, step-by-step; carefully organized and analyzed. As partners, yes I did say partners, in mastery of movement Pisces has finely honed the craft of overflow and freely giving of its emotional reserves and Virgo has mastered the art of restricting and allowing only what should run with a strong current do so. Virgo, as a sign of earth provides the container for what Pisces would naturally flood because of its organic instinct towards acting as provider and insures that there will be adequate supply left of that outpouring to renew, rather than deplete.

In this line of the Grand Cross we find Neptune in its sign of rulership, Pisces, so the dialogue between the two is a tale of old friends. A point of tension and opposition arises from Jupiter in a more restricting sign of Virgo. Imagine the damming up of what has mastered the tides of expansive reach that moves in accord with the rhythm of calibrated contraction as needed. Virgo tightens that contractive action, making sure that everything is in order and each outcome has been evaluated, verified and then checked again, before any expansion can occur. Emotions that arise from the deepest space of our vast ocean of experience and memory that would, otherwise, have been transparent in our sightline are now placed in a holding pattern to allow for greater scrutiny.

Sit As the Observer..

As difficult as it may be, the best course of action is to simply sit as the observer looking out as the waxing light provides a better view of what the options are. Breathe into the space of acknowledging that you may be feeling the pull of your emotional self to react rather than wait for the correct response that will insure you move from an informed heart-centered space. Acknowledge that although you are feeling pressed to restructure aspects of your life that you have not been in clear communication with for some time, this reaction could result in your overlooking a very useful, albeit small, detail of previous experience that will resurface when you remain still and open enough for it to gain your attention.

A Center Point of Calm Response…

GIAstargarnet

Alchemically, Mind and breath (Venus in Airy Gemini) have the potential to move with a grace and refinement that is your personal signature of harmony achieved through the beauty found in the process.

Will and action (Saturn in Fiery Sagittarius) are enabled to burn brightly in a structured and orderly way that endure time and catalyze the smaller fires of continued outreach towards collaborative and communal effort that is both aligning your internal communal s(S)elves and the outer world you inhabit.

Compassion and a healing heart (Neptune in Watery Pisces) can flow fully and with the appropriate discernment that heals and soothes without depleting its own reserves and capacity to give.

Prosperity and the realization of an abundance (Jupiter in Earthy Virgo) that provides what is needed devoid of excess and becomes fruitful in manifesting the space of gratitude are honed within the “knowing” that the earth of our bodies and home will sustain.

Find the space of stillness within. Find the space of receptive communication that flows. Find the gift of patience and deepening of your own self-aligning nature. Find the center point where each of the dynamics of this Grand Cross have opportunity to flow into, fuel and inform, so that you may find the resonance that is uniquely your own path towards future growth.

Blessings of this New Moon and this first Mutable Grand Cross …

Stand Down-Mars Retrograde and More!

Posted in Astrology, Auspicious Days, Retrogrades on April 18, 2016 by themagickalpen

maxresdefault-1
I chose the phrase “stand down” as the title for this post because that is exactly what is being called into motion with this cluster of potent retrograde planets; the most recent being Mars and Pluto.

One of the definitions of the phrase “stand down” is …

“to relax or cause to relax after a state of readiness.”

And, this state of being is one that will serve you in good stead as Cardinal (initiating and catalyzing) energy and Mutable (flexibility)energy play their games of contraction and expansion cloaked in the mantles of their astrological/elemental signs. Be alert and ready for change and disruption, but be sure to give enough time to rest and integrate what has newly been formed. There will be outbursts, flare ups, challenges and more, but co-existent with all of these are times for reflection, cooling down and gates to be opened and accessed as we re-think the limitations and possibilities that are available to us.

Below is the auspicious line-up that will be exerting maximum influence with the potential for change that is not going to be a quick and easy fix. Then again, another phrase that comes to mind is…

“nothing truly worthwhile and lasting comes easy”

January 7 – May 9
Jupiter Retrograde in Earthy and Mutable Virgo

March 25 – August 13
Saturn Retrograde in Fiery and Mutable Sagittarius

April 17 – June 29
Mars Retrograde in Fiery and Mutable Sagittarius

April 18 – September 26
Pluto Retrograde in Earthy and Cardinal Capricorn

and, in a few days…

April 28 – May 22
Mercury in Earthy and Cardinal Capricorn

Planetary Expressions

From now until May 9th Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Pluto will be exerting their will and the choices we make; the space we allow ourselves to move unencumbered and the overall attitude we offer as fuel to these will determine how gracefully we navigate. Let’s look at the dynamics of these planets:

Jupiter is one of expansive quality. It tests the boundaries of how far we can stretch and reach and just as easily contracts back to its former state. The trick is learning to fine tune where we wish to apply this abundance. In planetary magick, Jupiter is one of choice for expanding finances. Its energy is aptly suited to material endeavors, but therein lies the caution. Excess and abundance are not interchangeable. Having enough of what one needs is a state of abundance. Having more than one can productively use quickly becomes the excess clutter that turns swiftly into negativity and unhappiness at best and malcontent and greed at worse. What is often overlooked as well is that residing in a state of abundance is to have gratitude for an absence of lacking. As we know, wealth and excess can often create the greatest vacuum of lack, as happiness is sought purely by the measure of what has been acquired.

Saturn is one of order and structure that is both timely and timeless. The space of a Saturn return in ones natal chart is usually peppered with change, transition and a “cleaning up” so to speak of what is no longer productive and of durability. Saturn seeks to control, so of course, there will be perceived rigidity in this. Keyword here is “perceived”. Most often that rigidity is the “cause and effect” response our underdeveloped will and personality wield in trying to maintain the status quo, regardless of well it has served us. There is a certain maturity that is required and this is where the time piece comes into play. Maturity is not measured by chronological and/or linear time. It is the sum total of all of the experiences and lessons achieved (not learned, but fully integrated) that occur in a timeless (past, present and future in synchronicity and simultaneously) state of informed Will. Each pass of Saturn’s gift is one of opportunity to breathe into the now, informed by our past as we step into a future that is our ordered, structured and timely existence.

Mars is one of action, disruptive and transformative. The negative overtone here is that of aggression and the war like nature that is often attributed to Mars energy. And, this is partly true; but the larger truth lay in the forced nudging of the mother bird as she pushes her young from their nests so they can soar. This calls them to action, to flapping wings and eventually finding their own ways carried on the currents of wind. Mars demands that we move, but it is not the cosmic GPS that plots our course. That is your choice to make. The aggression that is felt within this energy is a matter of pacing and unrealistic views of your own abilities. Moving too fast will cause you to stumble and fall, but that is not the fault of the initial energy that catalyzed that movement (Mars). Therein lies the task. Know thyself, breathe into the action and pace yourself along the way to allow for the integration of what, if approached in this way becomes the Phoenix rising. If not, ashes and burn-out become the master.

Pluto is one of reflection, retrospection and deep openings. Pluto calls to the mysteries of endings (being the one of the furthest out in our solar system)and the reunion of past experience as the informed teacher of what will become. Pluto can be called upon to awaken the memories of who and what we truly are. I think of Pluto’s energy in terms of the lemniscate of eternity. The future coiling and reaching back continually into the past as the present is created from these dual efforts. I have always imagined that moving beyond Pluto I would emerge through the darkness, passing through the polarized veiling of brilliant light and emerging in the birthing of the next galaxy that is at once our past and the potential of our future.

The Next Layer-Element and Sign

Jupiter Retrograde in Earthy and Mutable Virgo

Physical and Manifest (Earth) Expansion (Jupiter) that is detailed and analytical (Virgo) in its flexible and resilient (Mutable) focus.

Saturn Retrograde in Fiery and Mutable Sagittarius
Action and the will to act (Fire) that seeks to become structured and organized (Saturn)
Will that reaches and stretches beyond itself(Mutable) to ignite a network of community that will seed the fires of a broader collaboration (Sagittarius)

And, in this case – Saturn and Mars are tag-teaming their energies. Structure (Saturn) and Upheaval (Mars) in intensifying the need to create order are amplified by Fire’s need to expand, destroy and heal and Sagittarius’ desire to spread a larger web of newly quickened growth.

Mars Retrograde in Fiery and Mutable Sagittarius
Passion flows into desire to act (Fire) that un-relentlessly urges (Mars) us to stretch and move (Mutable) beyond the comfort zone of boundaries we have self-imposed(Sagittarius). These are the small fires that are flung far and wide, each fulfilling the desire to take root and become the blaze of permanent and lasting change.

Pluto Retrograde in Earthy and Cardinal Capricorn
The gift of beginning anew and re-birthing (Cardinal) from what is contained in the continuum (Pluto) of time converging as one stream of source. This is the slow and steady sure-footed progress of one who creates the path that dips into the waters of the Soul and is able to scale the heights of their nature (Capricorn), remaining equally grounded in all levels of being (Capricorn).

As we progress through the months, I will write more on each of these and their interactions and potential for your own work. As you can see there will be overlap for a time as the year progresses and some of these planets begin their direct motion and others join in the dance, adding the finishing nuances to what has been achieved thus far.

Sun in Earthy and Fixed Taurus
April 19 – May 19

A Helpful Ally

We can use the stability of this solar month of Taurus to provide a fixed and grounded foundation. Taurus is of the Earth element and one of the fixed signs of the zodiac. This means that the manifest realms are where this energy is at home and weaves its magick of strengthening. With much of the Retrograde energy seeking to intensify and to a large degree de-stabilize various aspects of our being (mundane and spiritual) the stubborn attribution that is often given to bullish Taurus can be parlayed into a useful tool of mediation. Additionally, we have the entire solar month to see clearly from its sustaining light as we move through the challenges that arise.

Stand Down and Rest Comfortably

The greatest lesson that I envision with these planetary Retrogrades is one of learning to be gentle with yourself as you accept that you do not have to shoulder the burden of everything that is part of who you are. Learning to rest in the stillness of who you are becoming as the landscape of your nature shifts and changes in accord with greater and deeper cosmic changes.

I offer a final common phrase to consider…

That of taking “the path of least resistance”. This does not mean passively laying down effort and intention. But, rather it speaks to trust and cultivating the ability to discern when action is required and necessary to move forward and when being carried on the current of a stream if deeper knowing and sinking into its depths as it changes and reshapes you is the best course. Being fully present in whatever experience you are having will support a feeling of being anchored as the emotions, mind and body move through these various states of transition.

The months ahead will provide ample opportunity to ride it out as we are stretched and pulled (Mutability) in many directions and when to actively become co-creator as the catalytic force and first stirrings of what will be (Cardinality) bubble up.

End Note:

I would also encourage you to read through some of the other posts I’ve written about these retrogrades and astrological signs. The beauty of astrology is that there is no singular way in which these energies present themselves. There is a common thread that serves as the foundation, but each day, each year, what appears as the same combination of planet, element, modality, sign, aspect, etc… is slightly different from the previous. These are the subtle nuances that give life to the interpretation and offer the space of application for the diverse and uniques blueprints that are our natal charts.

A Delicate Balance: Full Moon in Libra

Lunar Eclipse

Sun in Aries

Mother Moon waxes Full at 8:01am (EDT) tomorrow morning in the astrological sign of Libra. Libra is represented as Cardinal (catalyzing and initiating) Air (mental processes and movement). This is an airy energy that moves in a more refined way so it can actualize what it aspires towards.

This is a Full Moon of opportunity to establish a harmonious and more centered mental outlook. The Full Moon occurs at the peak of the lunar cycle and as such brings the dynamic of realized potential that is illuminated, expansive and heart centered.  Libra’s symbol is that of the scales, so balance is a theme of this sign; not equanimity; rather a balance that occurs when everything is as it should be with the appropriate amount of energy in dominance that will bring about refinement and productivity.

At the pole of opposition is the Sun, now in the astrological sign of Aries, Cardinal Fire. On the Zodiacal Wheel, Fiery Aries is directly opposite Airy Libra. Both are Cardinal signs; these being the prompters and starters of whatever elemental energy is present. Flowing through this Full Moon’s story is that of an emotional (Moon) landscape informed by the flow of new ideas (Libra) that stimulate the desire to strengthen (Sun) the sparks that will feed a newly lit flame (Aries) of creative action. Mind and Heart have the opportunity to unite with just enough tension (balance and the opposition of Sun and Moon) to produce a beautiful and harmonious outcome.

Add to this potential, a Lunar Eclipse and Earth (manifestation) as the recipient….

The Lunar Eclipse

lediagram1c 2

When a Lunar Eclipse occurs, the Earth finds itself mid-point between the Sun and Moon. I see this as an opportunity to infuse the earthly and manifest realm with the strength of the Sun as it gathers to itself the healing of the Moon. In the action of reciprocity, the manifest realm becomes the place of filter for the Sun’s enlivening and the Moon calls into itself a dynamic potency that has been “flavored” by physicality.

Esoteric Implications

This is another way to utilize and contemplate the Lunar Eclipse.

Within the practice of Esoteric astrology the Sun has a tri-fold nature. Its physical energy is that of the fohat, pure electromagnetic dynamics. The spiritual overlay is that if Prana, pure life force energy that sustains and enlivens us. And, at the level of the individual the Sun is the space of awakened consciousness. The potential of what we strive towards as spiritual beings that has been charged by the flow of solar energy in our physical form.

The Moon is the storehouse and keeper of memory and the subconscious space of desires, want and need. This is the space of reconciliation between our physical and mental processes and what it is that our Soul truly desires to make it whole. This is often the deeper disparity between what we feel to be true and what we know to be true. When these are working collaboratively there is no separation between mind and heart as each informs the other.

The Earth is the place of our inner and outer journeys. The outer is one of physical experience and the weight of responsibility held in what that physical experience has as offering. The inner journey is one of recording the lessons of these experiences, the acceptance of the effects of what we cause to be and what visions we infuse to quicken this lifetime. This is the place of service and the yearnings to make whole that service in offering to the Divine.

The experience of these three planets of alignment as the lunar eclipse comes into focus of energy is one of wholeness. It is one of moving into a collaborative state with the physical you, the will-filled you and the you that remains outside of space or time that is reflected in our Higher Self.

Please enjoy an audio recording that may  be used as a reflective meditation as the Moon rides high in Libra….

Jupiter Remains Retrograde in Virgo

The Moon waxes Full today at 1:20 p.m. in the astrological sign of Virgo. The Sun just recently transited into its Solar Month of Pisces and in keeping with the Full Moon dance of Moon and Sun in opposition, the tension generated is one of staying true to the imposed tight budget that Mother Moon has put into place despite Father Sun wanting to splurge on those in need. This energy is one of contraction (Virgo) and expansion (Pisces). This also means that with the Moon at the peak of her power and light of expression, every little penny will be accounted for and the necessary adjustments made to get the budget back on track.

Now, the additional support that this Virgo Moon has is that of Jupiter stationed Retrograde in the same sign- Virgo. Jupiter’s natural flexibility has redirected that energy inward with optimal focus on what needs expansion on the inner realms of your being.. This action feels very much like a contracted state where the load is heavily pushing inward, but we also must remember that the reciprocity of that inward contraction makes for more room that centers on the mid-point rather than the periphery.

You may have been feeling the imposing analysis of Virgo since Jupiter’s Retrograde on January 7th. And, we are only about a quarter of the way through what will increasing become more like intense scrutiny before it stations direct on May 9th. Keep this though in mind as we progress through the next few Solar Months and Moon Phases; each having their own particular astrological flavor to be analyzed more fully.

The astrological sign of Virgo is an Earth sign; meaning that the areas where this intensity will be felt are those of the manifest realm and whatever you have carefully erected as the building blocks of your foundations. This could be financial, your physical body, your home, etc… This Full Moon offers the opportunity to put whatever you wish under the microscope for a closer look at how it is actually constructed and if the supports and work that went into it was one of quality or a shabby pull together.

Emerge from this Moon of analysis tomorrow morning into the light and waters of  understanding (and forgiveness, if necessary) of whatever you may have rooted out that is not your best work. The strength of the Sun and the waters of Pisces are those that can soothe what may have been exposed and begin the process of hope and renewal for what you wish to experience in its place.

Tis year, I am going to be posting more pathworkings, audio and ways of expanding your astrological perspective. This is an opportunity for you to have direct experience with the concepts presented. Additionally, there is so much more to be received when you know how to connect the dots and begin to see that patterns. And, much like looking at a slide under a microscope, whatever the specimen on the slide, a whole new world in which it is contained can be seen.

In honor of Virgo, I have recorded a Pathworking entitled:

The Hall of Virgo

You may use this for the Solar Month of Virgo or at any Lunar phase (the Moon cycles through all 12 signs in any given month) that places the Moon in the sign of Virgo. Enjoy!

The First Full Moon of 2016

Full Moon in Leo

Saturday’s lunation marks the first of 2016’s Full Moons. Mother Moon shines brightly in the astrological sign of Leo. Father sun has just entered his reign in the Fixed Air of Aquarius and the conversation is one of charismatic strength of heart (Moon in Leo) and an illuminated mind (Sun in Aquarius) of future’s vision and the potential therein.

Add to this Retrograde Mercury in earthy Capricorn, just about ready to station direct and 16-day old Retrograde Jupiter in analytical and practical Virgo and the recipe is ripe for getting (Mercury) right to the heart of the matter (Virgo) while maintaining a flexible (Jupiter) attitude.

And, what about it being the first Full Moon of the year? That’s pretty cool as well with some very potent energy that may be called upon with a very specific intention. Numerologically, 2016 resonates to the number 9 (2+1+6); the number of transmutation, endings, beginnings and the thresholds that are crossed as old becomes new. This is the space and potential of initiation into the mysteries of the unknown.

What better way to begin this year of transformation than under the watchful gaze of of the fiery Moon of Leo. Not just any fire, but Fixed Fire. you know, these are the fires that burn strong as they remove what no longer is viable and prepare the way for what “can become”. Use this Full Moon to heat the waters of your own creative nature and catalyze the dialogue the sun of your will and the moon of your heart’s capacity to stand strong and roar loudly as you fiercely protect what you hold most dear.

What will you claim as your power in this new year?

On the night of this Leo Moon, I will sit on the shores of my vast ocean. Head lifted and mane flowing as I lay in regal repose. The tides will flow and I will remain as guardian of the Gates that hold the mysteries of the depths of who and what I will become. And, in morning sun’s light, all that I envisioned and all that was revealed will ride the arc of sun’s light and I will carry the memory of this moonlit night and the power of my fullest expression into the promise of a year of transformation.

So Mote It Be!!!

A side note: Geographically, where I live we are expecting a blizzard this weekend. Saturday is predicted to be the mid-point of this blanketing of heavy and very wet snow. How to tweak a bit more intention from this lunation?

I will be en-visioning the spark of growth that lay beneath this snow. The ground is cold and frozen but life stirs within it; ready to brighten the world at March’s end. This is the promise that all initiatory experience (remember the 9 of this year) holds. This is the work of that process. To provide what appears to be the challenge of freezing over what we wish to see blossoming sooner rather than later. But, in the wisdom and intelligence of the heart (Moon) and the strength (Sun) of what will ultimately “be”, this is merely the means to stir into action and catalyze (Leo) what is quickening beneath as natural response to this imposed state of contractive creation (Jupiter Retrograde). Nonetheless, the message is clear (Mercury getting ready to station Direct) and nature in her abundance takes hold. Life stirs beneath the snow and frozen earth and although hidden for now from visible sight, the priming of Spring’s first budding becomes the vision that warms the soul (Aquarius) on the cold winter’s night.

New Moon in Capricorn

Happy 2016! 2016 is a number Nine (2+1+6=9) Year. And, in the the first nine days of this new year Mercury and Jupiter station Retrograde.

The New Year kicks off with the Moon waning in the Cardinal sign of Libra, the great harmonizer. Father Sun, nearing its mid-point in Cardinal Capricorn lights up the landscape for the work of Mother Moon to begin her harmony of release and re-balancing. This is a good start to the New Year, particularly given its resonance to the number of Initiatory experience and crossing thresholds. Before we can begin the process of new growth we must release what is tipping the emotional scales towards unproductive and self-indulgent patterning. Look for this year to be one of opportunity to end what no longer serves and plant the seeds of what will be catalytic and transformative.

On January 5th the first Mercury Retrograde of this year occurs. Mercury aligns with Solar Capricorn and in this earthy sign communication will traverse the heights and the depths. Give extra time to fully process what is being said so that the mid-point of stable ground can be attained even within the exaggeration of what appears to be.

January 7th expansive Jupiter stations Retrograde in analytical Virgo. This is the ebb and flow of an ocean that captures every grain of sand in its grasp, sorting and sifting what will remain and what will be expanded out to broader horizons. This planet of abundance will remain retrograde until May 9th, building in its impact, contracting and pulling in what needs more discernment of intent. Virgo is another Earth sign so the action will take place in the physical and manifest realms of your being.

On January 9th, we feel the tides of the first New Moon of 2016. Mother Moon begins its waxing as it co-joins with Father Sun in the sign of Capricorn. Whatever you wish to gain stable ground in its forward efforts should be included in the magick of this New Moon. This will set the tone for the year ahead and provides a palpable and manifest opportunity to reach towards the fullness of what you’ve embarked upon when the moon waxes Full on the 23rd in dynamic and electromagnetic Leo.

Take a deep breath and welcome the New Year!

These past few days have been packed with celestial events that punctuate the soon to be ending of a year of highs and lows. The Solstice of December 21st. marked the longest night of the year and as the Sun transited in Capricorn at 11:49p.m., once again we entered the quickening of new Light and the hope that is birthed with that awakening. The Moon waxed in another Earth sign, Taurus and provided a triad of Fire (Sun)-Water (Moon) and Earth (Capricorn and Taurus). The Cardinal(new beginnings and first flow) energy of Capricorn’s Sun moved into position to feed its outpouring of new light into Lady Moon’s birthing waters that stood ready in the Fixed (stabilization and structure) energy of Taurus. Earth is the sign of manifestation, so the potential of what was begun at this Solstice is one of stable and manifest creation.

A few days of synthesis and continued expansion culminated last night as the Moon waxed Full in its native sign of Cancer at 6:11am (EST). What was birthed at the Solstice now has the nurturing of a heart filled with the fullness of unconditional love. The watchful and gentle light of Mother Moon shines brightly on her creation and the beauty of that creation is front and center for all to see.

Light reigned supreme in its return. Mother Moon and Father Sun stood proudly in revealing their creation and Uranus brought all to a culminating point of blasting the bounty of this energy into the far and greater reaches of cosmic connections…

Uranus, was the last of six(6) planets that stationed Retrograde in 2015 to station Direct on the 25th. Each of these planets had a very specific flow of energetic change to weave into the stories we co-created in this year’s journey.

Jupiter in Leo heralded in its expansive wisdom at the start of 2015 (having been retrograde from December 8.2014). Leo expressed itself as the burner, whose flames rose and fell in accord with wherever the intention for increased flexibility that provoked change was focused. April 8th brought relief from this intensity as Jupiter stationed Direct.

Saturn in Sagittarius took up the work of Retrograde Focus on March 14th. The Master of Time and Mistress of the Primordial Womb, let fly the arrows of fiery connection and seeding that sought its place of catalyzation. All the while, time stood still and opened up the space of re-organization that would become a more viable structure for strong intentions. Saturn stationed Direct on August 1/2.

Pluto in Capricorn called us to reach deeply into the stores of memory that hold the key to the best and worst of our manifest efforts. Its Retrograde on April 16th marked the point of linear time that provided the first careful stepping into the synchronicity of our past and future experiences. Appropriately, within a few days of the Autumnal(Vernal) Equinox, Pluto stationed Direct, gathering with it a balance of all that had been revealed at the mid point of the present.

Neptune Stationed Retrograde in its Native sign of Pisces on June 12th. Waters ran deep and the depths of our feeling nature flowed strongly in all of our endeavors. The intensity of this focus pulled us into a heartscape that pulled to the surface what had been long buried and forced choice of either drowning or swimming more strongly in all that motivates us at the very core of our being. As the last push of tidal waters beat against a newly etched shoreline, Neptune stationed Direct on November 18th leaving the treasures of the deep seas on sands freshly bathed.

Venus in Capricorn turned heads as her grace and refinement poured abundantly, stationing Retrograde on July 25th. This Venus was one of earthy beauty and a call to exploring how we balance our mundane and spiritual selves. Where do we seek beauty and how we create that which exceeds expectations, keeps us grounded and moves into the depths of what our Soul desires. These were difficult lessons and the defining moments of what we truly desire in our manifest life were often unexpected. Venus stationed Direct on September 6th carrying into the time of Harvesting (or Seeding) a new vision of what a more harmonious potential.

Electrical Beginnings:

Uranus in Aries stationed Retrograde hot on the heels of Venus on July 26th. And in keeping with the dynamic and stimulating electrical impulses that are the process of Uranian change, this focus has been one of extreme intensity and un-relentless pursuit in refining and reformatting our electrical systems. The neural system was the recipient of this intensity, making for some very challenging months depending on your responses to being primed for amping up.

All System’s, Go! and The Blasted Tower

As we stand at the brink of crossing into the New Year of 2016, all systems are GO! for the changes that are yet to come. Challenge goes hand and hand with change, so there is no avoiding what will provide a year of change-and growth. How we respond to these changes; whether we choose to go kicking or screaming or to move with resilience of intention is a matter of how we express our free will.

What lay in the great beyond of worlds we have only imagined is just on the horizon and we are rapidly developing the tools required to gain sight of a loftier vision of what is possible. Science and Spirituality are no longer disparate streams, but do require that we broaden our personal perspectives, seeking the threadings of connection that run through each.

16-tower 2

I leave you with the image of the Tarot Key: The Tower

Imagine the Tower as the construct of your mind’s opinion, beliefs and boundaries of perception. The lightening bolt of Uranus’ electrical charge flashes and splits open that fortress you have built that, in reality, has held you captive in your own self-imposed limitations. Those that form the polarized conflicts (and mental debates) and allow entry only to those they find to be in accord with and non-threatening to their fortress are now cast out, no longer viable stewards of this newly changed structure. And, what remains is the foundation, unscathed, and perhaps stronger, that now may be rebuilt upon and re-inhabited with the creative potential of the unknown.

All systems, Go! Blast that tower! Open that mind! and Build high and strong into lands awaiting discovery!

Many blessings of this stellar ending to 2015 and abundance, prosperity in the coming year…. Robin

Neptune Stations Direct
11:32am (EST)

Moon in Aquarius
Sun in Scorpio

Neptune stations direct, tomorrow on the 18th late morning and the pressures that have been building as it held focus and attention on all aspects of emotion and the intuitive nature is ready for full force release. This planet of the deep and hidden depths of our waterscape has been retrograde  since June 12th and remains in its ruling astrological sign of Pisces. It is the third of the four furthest planets to have been retrograde this year and spent some time in overlap with two others – Pluto (stationed Direct on Sept. 24/25) and Uranus which will bring a burst of electrically charged light December 25th, hot on the heels of the Solstice of the 21st.

The planet Neptune’s energies are those of a higher resonance of planet Venus. Venus concerns itself with relationship, refinement and beauty as a source of emotional gratification and desire. But, Neptune takes these qualities and brings them to the truly refined and beautiful place of unconditional love honed by deeper understanding of the true nature of the qualities it seeks to form lasting relationship with.  This is one of the reasons why the Neptune Retrograde has churned the waters as it seeks its source far deeper into the comfort of the reserves that we normally cling to for fear of lack. Everything we thought we believed to be true about our expectations of relationship and matters of the heart has had an extra dose of scrutiny and intensity infused into it under the steady and potent energy of Neptune.

In  Mythos, the God Neptune is ruler of the seas and his Trident pierces through the deepest and darkest of waters as he rises from the depths and surveys the land of man. Whatever is in proximity of his rising will either withstand the turbulence of changing waters or be drowned by the sudden movement and shift in the current. Because of energies of the other Retrograde planets and timing within the Solar Year of Neptune’s, the peaks of rising have been far less substantial than the depths of submerging. This action has resulted in forming a vacuum of contraction and a veiling of highly pressurized surface which is now ready to be released.

This damming up has presented itself in outbursts of emotion that would have otherwise been controllable and the heartfelt expression of any and all those things that are near and dear to us. Tears have flooded and pushed to the surface of even the most stoic of logical mind and what we believed to not be of concern to us, was found to be precisely the thing to stir up our feelings.

Sun in Scorpio

This solar month of Scorpio has encouraged a particularly deep response in resonation with Neptune nearing the final stages of its retrograde. Scorpio is intense, deep and often mysterious in how its affections are expressed and doled out. The Scorpion is placed as one of three symbols of Scorpios energy and can be quick and painful in its sting, rising from beneath the soil unexpectedly. This dynamic has lent itself to uncovering what lay buried beneath the ocean’s floors of our emotional seascape. All that we have kept submerged and hidden, particularly from ourselves now has the potential to be brought to the surface and flushed free as Neptune open’s its gates of release.

Moon in Aquarius

The Moon transits into the astrological sign of airy Aquarius on the date of Neptune’s stationing direct. Mind will finally have its say, but because it is mantled in the cloak of watery Lady Moon, the product will be one that is filled with the rationale about “Why I feel this way”. Within the scope of Aquarius’ gifts is that of vision. Being able to see many outcomes and zero in on what is most needed for the greater good. We can hold this intention in directing the force of Neptune’s release towards its waters being received where they will be of most benefit. When vision and heart collaborate the result can be much like the pressurized watery cleansing of an edifice that has accumulated the grime of years of neglect, yet stands strong and beautiful in the potential of all who will benefit from its purpose.

Under Pressure

So, how do we navigate these waters of force? Ride the current and relax into the freedom of a heart flowing freely and unencumbered. The year is nearing its end and we will soon also be released from the highly electrical charge of Uranus and its retrograde, so for now enjoy a flow that is powerful and potent in what it may be redirected towards. Hold the intention that those areas and people in our lives that need a strong and power flow of love, compassion and understanding will feel the healing waters that we may now offer. Hold the intention that you will be both generator and recipient of the back flow of waters that reveal the limitless depths of expression that you may call upon within your own Neptunian waters. And, as the Moon transits into the astrological sign of Pisces on the 19th, it’s ruling planet, Neptune will carry you to the shores of unconditional love and the deep wisdom of heart-felt compassion.

Keeping It Real! Full Moon in Taurus

Full Moon in Taurus
8:05am (EDT)

Sun in Scorpio

The moon waxes full in the astrological sign of Taurus this morning bringing an opportunity to explore what grounds us as the waters run deep and passionately. Taurus is an Earth sign of the Fixed Modality. Earth provides stability and a place from which to grow, inclusive of all that is physical and manifest in quality.  The Fixed Modality provides an energy of structure, being able to synthesize what seeks to contribute more of its energy and drawing that into a space that can transform and make more useable the by product as it flows out to a more flexible state. The symbol of the Bull is associated with Taurus and that selection alone gives rise to understanding of how strong this foundation can be.

Taurus is the strength that stands its ground secure in the sheer power it knows it can exert in holding steady whatever its focus may be. Apply this to the lunarscape of emotions and you have the recipe for staying the course and a certain predictability of response.  It is for this reason that workings using the energy of a Taurus Moon benefit the most when they involve a shoring up of what we consider out foundations of heart to be.

You know the proverbial image of the bull in the china shop reeking havoc on the delicate collectibles? I like to think f this scenario not so much as a representation of the awkwardness and lack of grace held in an animal that is far too large and solidly built to be in such refined spaces; but rather as an idea of how strength and girth carves out new boundaries for its impact when inhibited by what is far too fragile in the first place. What is in this situation is not the bull, who by the way, is simply doing and moving in the same way it would in any setting. The objects that are held static and on display to be appreciated, simply for their beauty rather than the actual function they may serve are what provide the setting for chaotic dismantling.

As with each Full Moon alignment, the Sun is directly opposite the Moon; in this case the astrological energy of this solar month is that of Scorpio. Scorpio is a Water sign of the Fixed Modality and has the infamous identification as the sign of excess, addictions, uncontrolled passions and seeking into the depths of shadow and the occult, never to return to the real world again. And, as with each of the signs of the Zodiac, these are only the predispositions towards imbalance in what Scorpio has as its gift.

Scorpio is also one that has the ability to truly transform. The symbol of usual reference is that of the Scorpion, hidden and ready to strike out whether provoked, or not. There are also two other associations. One being the Eagle and having the keenest of sight, perched above and able to select that which is appropriate prey to nourish and sustain. The third is the Phoenix, the creature that purposefully cleanses with the Fires it has created of its own free will and rises from the ashes, stronger, more beautiful and wiser than in its previous iteration. And, during this solar month, the Sun is shining brightly into those areas that need some of that energetic housecleaning and transformation. This becomes the funeral pyre that burns away the dross of emotional baggage that inhibits growth and forces the death and rebirth of something better than before.

Traditionally, these two points of alignment between Sun and Moon are considered oppositions and the implication is one of a tug of war; each pulling on the other in an effort to upset the status quo. This opposition is precisely what is needed to draw the best from both and force each to play nice with one another. I use the word force here in that the process often begins with resistance and the need for will and desire to take hold and set the right intention that will attract what is needed from the energy of both.

Keeping It Real!

I see this Full Moon as a rare opportunity to allow the freedom to explore, indulge and fuel my passions while holding the intention of remaining firmly anchored in the strength of my manifest power. Scorpio is highly intuitive and as such, it is not always easy to sort out what is reality, fantasy or something else altogether. But, if I make use of Taurus’ deep connection to all that constitutes the physical world I live in, I can allow the tether line to reach a little further into the astral and etheric realms, bringing back that which is needed.

Both Moon and Sun are providing the light that illuminates the emotional landscape that is held in the deepest parts of self. Taurus provides the vessel of physical form that Scorpio may work its magick of transforming the desires of heart that are both intuitive and real in their actions.

Mother Moon sits high
In darkened starlit sky
Body strong and full
Guardian and protectress
Of earth’s lands that she surveys.

Sun reaches deep into
Waters dark and thick
Pulling to the surface
The mysteries of the heart.

Moon and Sun each light
Illuminating what is to be.

Moon and Sun companions
Birthing what is to be.

I sit in the light of both
Dipping deep into my desire
Passion rises like waters
Boiling up and form gives way
To visions and on lofty wings
I soar and fly.

Sun my raging passion and
Moon the healing balm that
Quiets the pain of change.

I strain and resist the truth
Of my inner sight and wings
Beat furiously carrying me
High into the unknown night.

In the arms of Mother Moon
I find quiet – rest and rebirth
The flames have risen
The ashes been rendered
And to earth and form
I now return.

The labors of my journey
In the fullness of Moon
Heart’s orb now held within
My body of strength as Sun
Commands the day.

Many Blessings of Taurus Full Moon’s Strength……
